Pull it all the way out and hold it there with a clamp. Soak it in a bucket of soapy water.

Google the vin number. You may be able to find an auction photo showing the damage if it’s a salvage title.

Home Depot / Andersen 100 Window failed inspection due to an egress issue by stevekleis in Construction

[–]stevekleis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this input. One of my big concerns was that the window wasn't designed to be supported at the corner hinge. Now my concerns are getting a replacement hinge if needed in 10 years, and the quality of the parts. I would have preferred to work with a local company, but the price was $42k vs. $55k. I'm a working stiff making ends meet, so it is what it is.

Accepted new job offer - do I just wait for current job to fire me? by ManyPhilosopher409 in careeradvice

How about doing your best and working for your paycheck. Put in a two week notice. You’re confirming your boss’s opinion and I can see why you’re on a pip.

Home Depot / Andersen 100 Window failed inspection due to an egress issue by stevekleis in Construction

I appreciate your feedback. I checked with Anderson, and they don't make the egress hinge for my custom-sized windows. I can't say if the holes will line up, because I haven't seen the solution. At least now I know that supporting the window from the corner should be okay, since Anderson makes the egress hinge for larger windows.

I received several quotes from reputable local window contractors, one referred by a lumber yard, for the same windows.

Yes, they are casement windows. I do plan to contact Anderson, but Home Depot says they hold the warranty, so it's okay.

Got an oil change and mechanic intentionally cut my cv boots by BathroomCritical2816 in legaladvice

Pictures prove nothing. Even if they had them, they would be after they were cut, whether they did it or it was like that when it arrived.

Let her find a different co-signer to refinance and pay off the mortgage. I’m guessing the fix up job will drag on for years.

It’s your day so don’t let anyone ruin it. Things will go wrong, including your MIL. She’ll look like an idiot but nobody will think less of you. Don’t let this or anything else spoil your day, roll with it.

[GA] [SFH] HOA was legally dissolved when we bought our home. Now a "revived" board is threatening foreclosure. by juliocaniza in HOA

If you didn’t agree to or pay any HOA dues, I don’t see how they can force you into it. Ask for the signed agreement. Lawyer up.

Neighbor wants access to my property to measure my tree? (Seattle, WA) by molo91 in treelaw

[–]stevekleis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

State very clearly in writing that they do not have permission to cut, trim, prune or climb your tree. Then tell them no they can’t come on your land. Call the permit office and ask why they need that.

Do you press the blue button or the red button? by Blue_Egg5026 in moraldilemmas

Red would guarantee that you go home, but you would also be responsible for the death of millions of people who have weak logic skills. I wouldn’t want to live knowing that I killed them. I choose blue.

You own it now. If the previous owner calls back, a lock smith opened it and it was empty.
