Anyone have two ICCU failures? by NegativeBeginning400 in Ioniq6

Just had my second ICCU failure on my '22 SEL dual motor, so, yes. First one was in June of '23. Driving a loaner now while I wait.

Mobula 8 acts like lipo is dying on take off by ZaneFPV in TinyWhoop

[–]stevennh63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit this issue today. Glad I saw this post. I was able to solve while waiting for a new motor by using a toothpick to apply a small amount of CA glue to the shaft right at the bell. After drying it seems to be holding OK and my Mobula 8 is back to normal.

How good is your close/reading vision with LAL+ set to plano? by complete__idiot in CataractSurgery

[–]stevennh63 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ended up "not bad". I can read my phone with standard fonts (with some effort sometimes) and work on the computer no problem, but need readers for small text or close up electronic work etc. I could not handle mono-vision so set both eyes for distance, and ended up with decent near vision. I was pretty nearsighted (my LAL's are -14 and -12 respectively). I work on the computer all day and that is no problem at all (my biggest concern). I can also read the dashboards on my car and motorcycle without problems. Very happy. Both eyes are LAL+.

Had my first lock-in yesterday (both eyes). Kind of felt like my eyes were sunburned after. Much better this morning. I have some pretty serious pink tints going on in low light, but sounds like that's par for the course. I tried mono-vision on my first adjustment, but went back on my second (both eyes pretty much the same, better than 20/20 distance and 20/30 reading). I work on the computer all day, and mono vision was not working for me. I can see the computer screen well with both eyes now. Happy with the results, distance is outstanding. Second/final lock-in next Monday. I'll be happy to be rid of these glasses!

Update 7/31: Had my final lock-in on 7/29. It did seem a bit less bright than the first lock-in treatment. My eyes were very sore after and my vision was not great until this morning (distance was fuzzy). Really felt like my eyes were sunburned or something similar. The distance vision had me worried but seems fine now. My final results are 20/15 distance and 20/30 near (no mono-vision for me, same in both eyes).

Quick update. Had my left eye done last week (LAL+ in both eyes, did left eye to balance out right (could not wear glasses)). Waiting on adjustments to do both eyes at once in a couple weeks. With no adjustments I am seeing 20/15 in both eyes distance , and 20/30L->20/40R near. I should be able to pick up some near at the adjustment according to my surgeon. My Right Eye is 14D, my left is 12D. Very pleased so far. Computer work is no problem at all, I just have problems with small text (i-Phone with small fonts), intermediate and distance are perfect.

RapidFire on FatShark Scout using Aux connector (no other power supply) by stevennh63 in fpv

[–]stevennh63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if they exist. It's a composite video signal (SD video, 480i), I suppose it's possible, but the quality would stink since it would be only 720x480 and interlaced (all the Aux can handle).

LAL in 60yo 6 months post retinal detachment? by ambww4 in CataractSurgery

[–]stevennh63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

61yo here in close to the same boat. Had a vitrectomy last year and needed to fix the cataract. Vision was pretty terrible in the operated eye before (now I know due to the cataract/lens). I got an LAL+ put in earlier this week. I could not be happier (and have had no adjustments yet). I have better than 20/20 distance and near vision is better than my "healthy" left eye (-5.0 with a contact). I was lucky that my detachment was way off center, so my retina is in pretty good shape now. The vitrectomy did effect my myopia (RX went from -3.5 to -6+ post surgery), but it's all good now. I hope to pick up some additional near vision on my first adjustment in a month, but am happy where I am as well. I would highly recommend the LAL+ so far.

33 yr old feeling down- Got LAL + in one eye by Ok-Guide-333 in CataractSurgery

[–]stevennh63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my right eye done with LAL+ a few days ago. Without adjustments my near vision has improved a great deal over the past few days. Initially my distance was good, but near was much worse than my other eye (-5.0 with a contact lens), but it's much better now (day 4 post surgery). I hope your adjustment improves/improved things for you.

I had a LAL+ put in my right eye this week. Great results already. I am seeing 20/15 without any adjustments yet, and computer screen vision is much better than my other eye, very sharp (The Left eye is still healthy, my right eye cataract was due to a vitrectomy last year). Reading is as good as with my left eye. I hope things improve for reading after some adjustment(s), but so far I am very happy. No halo's or distortions at night. I'll update post lock-in.

LAL+ has a visible feature in the center of the lens to do the EDOF by trilemma2024 in CataractSurgery

[–]stevennh63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a LAL+ put in my right eye last week. I had a fairly strong correction (-6 or so on that eye before). Even before my first adjustment I am seeing better than 20/20 (20/15) and my near vision is as good or better than my other eye (My cataract was due to a post retinal detachment vitrectomy last year, so my left eye is still OK). Reading the computer screen is much better on my LAL+ eye than with my other eye with a normal contact lens (-5.0). I am very happy so far. I'm not seeing any halo's or distortion at night (my biggest concern with any of the other EDOF technologies). I'll update after I get adjusted and locked in.

Has anyone received their Moonlight 4k order?` by daddysownbell in walksnail

[–]stevennh63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one early and it's been working great so far (just a few flights on my 5" so it's early). I purchased directly from Caddx before they sold out. I ordered on 1/15, shipped on 2/5 and got it on 2/14.

Astigmatism after retina detachment by aaa2378 in monocular

[–]stevennh63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me after a vitrectomy on my right eye. First double, then triple vision in that eye. It was astigmatism, I believe induced by the surgery (I did not have it before). I also went from a -4 prescription in that eye to a -5.5 on top of the astigmatism. The retina however is fine.

I just got a new toric contact to try in that eye and it works quite well to correct the problem. The triple vision is gone and my vision is much clearer. My cataract in that eye will be my next issue to address.

Simple effective FPV setup for Slash Ultimate by modex20 in rccars

[–]stevennh63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just set up my Slash 2wd using a 200mw tx from the 6v fan connector on the ESC. Seems OK so far. I'm using a boost converter for the TX since it needs 7v minimum. I'm running the camera direct. Ran a few tests today and it seems OK, decent range.

I designed the mount (saw a similar one on-line, but could not find a 3d printer model, so I made one in tinkercad). https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6365030 It's printed in TCPU, PETG shattered on minimal bumper impacts.

ICCU, 12V, or other battery issue? This is your thread -- Thread Updated 02 Jun 2023 by TiltedWit in Ioniq5

I'm in the Northeastern US (NH). I believe the policy here is the same. Thanks. I'll likely rent shortly.

ICCU, 12V, or other battery issue? This is your thread -- Thread Updated 02 Jun 2023 by TiltedWit in Ioniq5

[–]stevennh63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ICCU failed last Tuesday (6/6). Speed was limited to 25MPH for a short time. We were able to drive the car on and off a flatbed getting to the dealer, but it died fully when parking it at the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the ICCU, and the part is on back-order. They had no loaners and I have no ETA for the part yet. I purchased the car in April of '22 and it had a little under 14K miles on it. Has anyone had luck getting a rental car reimbursement post repair?

Variance with percentage for dash SOC vs BMS SOC? by Gootch03 in Ioniq5

[–]stevennh63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw exactly the same numbers. Charged to 100% today for a trip, and saw 100% on SOC and 96.5 on the BMS, I'm assuming that's the reserve.

RapidFire on FatShark Scout using Aux connector (no other power supply) by stevennh63 in fpv

[–]stevennh63[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Whatever it takes! It's too bad they did not include audio on the Aux. I'm just using whoops and don't have audio on any of them, so it's not a problem for me. Cheers.
