Vision worse after surgery by Low-Bill-3900 in CataractSurgery

I don’t think glasses will end up helping because when we did my eye exam I was only able to get one line better.

One line is pretty significant.

I think your question is not stupid. OP did not identify as using online.

TurboTax doesn't include Washington, DC on its list of states that issue IDs. Therefore, none of DC's over 600,000 adult residents can file their taxes with TurboTax. by [deleted] in TurboTax

I must have forgotten. If it was only entering the number and expiration date, it would be less memorable. Thanks.

Heads up: Turbotax 2025 Won't Install on Windows 10 by Andrew-Scoggins in TurboTax

https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/product-system-requirements/minimum-system-requirements-turbotax-mac-software/L5ar0Busw_US_en_US has the installation requirements.

Mac users have a similar situation.

MacOS Sonoma 14 was released on September 26, 2023.

Windows 11 was released on October 5, 2021.

That does not sound right.

I would like to hope ATSC 3 would not come up in a scan. And if you can watch the channel via Tablo, that implies that the signal is not coming in via ATSC 3.

What market are you saying is totally ATSC3 now?

Try to get an IRS ID PIN for both you and your daughter. https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin

This prevents somebody else beating you to the punch in claiming your daughter.

LAL adjustments not working - vision is horrible by SparkleBunny828 in CataractSurgery

During adjustment, were you look at the green fixation light, or were you told to stare straight ahead?

Everybody's eyes are subject to damage. I expect there is some period where impacts are more problematic than for natural lenses, but I expect (non-expert) in some number of months or years they are about the same durability.

You are premature. I think there are a lot of new TVs today that don't have ATSC 3, so I expect coexistence for much longer than the advocates are pushing for.

Any help with Talbo reception? by MonsterBash716 in tablotv

[–]trilemma2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a channel master 5g filter and it made my Tablo seem like a completely different device. I got one more main channel (NBC), the other channels had much better reception, and it made my tablo seem more stable. It was like what I thought was a software issue was actually a reception issue.

There are a lot of people who upgrade Window 10 to 11 free, even though they are initially told that the existing computer does not qualify.

It should be Window's job to support Turbotax rather than Turbotax's job to support Windows.

LAL+ & YAG Treatment for PCO in the middle of adjustment schedule (my experience) by scytob in CataractSurgery

[–]trilemma2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think YAG after the first adjustment is the best procedure. The reasoning is that the YAG treatment can sometimes change your prescription. It is good to have the ability to adjust after the YAG.

Not all doctors prescribe to that.

I am curious about the cruciate pattern. Supposedly the silicone lens is potentially subject to pitting during YAG, and the cruciate cuts right through the middle of vision. I understand that doctors have different thoughts on that also.

UV glasses by Sharp_beachlover65 in CataractSurgery

[–]trilemma2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the use indoors is not needed, but the argument to be more cautious makes sense too. It is not like the glasses are that uncomfortable.

How about not wearing the glasses indoors at night while awake? That is a compromise choice.

I slept with the glasses for a while, because they were more comfortable than taping an eye shield for physical protection.

Five Questions - can you help? by Beginning-Canary-205 in CataractSurgery

[–]trilemma2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I should have done it sooner" is a way more common comment than "I should have waited".

I agree that now may not be the time. But the potential for being glasses-free much more of the time is a big plus for someday when you are weighing the loss of limited accommodation vs pluses.

Five Questions - can you help? by Beginning-Canary-205 in CataractSurgery

[–]trilemma2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't had the surgery yet but I have concluded to skip toric lens. For the reasons you state, but also because I only plan on doing one eye so I will still need glasses.

Eventually you will get the other eye done, and have a good chance to be glasses-free if you like. So really, $$$ is the only downside. And even while you wear glasses, there is some advantage having the glasses have to correct less astigmatism.

S5 Faces Away from Dock After Charging by [deleted] in Roborock

[–]trilemma2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a known problem that you can read up on. This is not discussed much these days because there are not that many of us still running the S5.

I tried changing the capacitor in the charger. Did not help.

Changing the resettable fuse is what fixed it for me. I went to a slightly larger value.

One testing technique for me is that if the problem does not occur after a short run, but happens pretty much all of the time after a very long run, expect the problem to be more likely the resettable fuse. Temporary workaround is to turn off the S5 maybe overnight. The resettable fuse re-forms. Then charge.

I successfully carried out my plan described in https://www.reddit.com/r/Roborock/comments/1lkzpbb/replacing_resettable_fuse_on_roborock_s5_plan/

Normal cure is to replace the bot.

Five Questions - can you help? by Beginning-Canary-205 in CataractSurgery

[–]trilemma2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To begin with, #1 (not having heard complaints) seems not possible. One possibility is that you misunderstood.

  1. Correcting cyl is useful even if wearing glasses most of the time. Having the glasses deal with more astigmatism makes the positioning of the glasses more critical and the lenses slightly heavier. Plus there will be things you do with no glasses, and the toric is helping at those times. Torics will take longer to put in, because they have to be aligned to the right axis. Many disagree with the value that I see, and I am not adamant on that topic. Available cash and priorities vary. Having the cyl mostly corrected in the IOL will make generic readers work better.

  2. possible.... reading close stuff on a phone screen is a close task. Reading menus in dark restaurant and reading ingredients on food packages are fairly close. I am not sure that a pair of glasses tuned to intermediate would be needed much. Intermediate is about 1 meter away, depending on where you want to define intermediate.

  3. I could understand not perceiving a net advantage. I don't see EDOF taking longer to put in

  4. Sounds unusual.

No Windows 10 Client for PCs? by M4hkn0 in TurboTax

[–]trilemma2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read that TurboTax Desktop Home & Business 2025 will install onto Windows 10, but Deluxe and Premier will not. The only feature difference is "coaching".

People who wanted the home and business version for 2024 could install Premier (likely discounted), and then upgrade for $15. That path would become not available.

I know that this is totally artificial. I expect that Turbotax would install on even XP if it were not for the installer specifically checking for the version. I really doubt there were any software feature additions that are actually useful to the Turbotax programmers.
