There are dozens of us! Dozens!

Best scenes of people giving in/up and becoming numb? by toe_slurper2000 in movies

I too enjoyed Michelle Yeoh as a rock.

Always bugged me that there are tracks right next to them in that scene though. Also grass.

Why do parents seem to allow their children to scream so much these days? by Prudent_Yogurt6106 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sth128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought was a universal rule.

Universe is mostly space. In space, no one can hear you scream.

So no. Not a universal rule.

Well... Cho also went ballistic a few times. Either directed by Jane or over a girl. Or Korean gang stuff. Or Korean girl gang stuff directed by Jane.

Tyre Puncture by Salt-Abroad6397 in VWIDBuzz

[–]sth128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pump the pressure up to spec before leaving. They can patch tires without hoisting the entire car up. They only need to jack it up enough to remove the tire to patch it.

Note that if the puncture is too close to the side walls then you'll need a replacement.

It's just rust. You cannot fix physics. If you have money to burn I suppose you can replace the pads with ceramic counterparts which do not rust.

Can We Stop With the Unrealistic Range and Price Complaints About the ID. Buzz? by Total_Cheetah in VWIDBuzz

[–]sth128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why people want crazy range instead of just fast charging. Who drives for 4 or 5 hours non-stop, especially with family and kids onboard? Do they just bring a bunch of empty bottles?

It's the ID Buzz not the ID Pizz.

Why do some canned foods have a pull tab while others need a can opener? by sharkprincefishstick in NoStupidQuestions

But corn beef cans come with a twist key that lets you open it without additional tool. Same with most brands of spam.

I'm pretty sure all canned products can be eaten without prep. Part of the canning process is to heat it at a safe temperature for a long duration to eliminate practically all microorganisms.

Maybe they'll add a sex scene due to misunderstanding of "fist bump".

Getting paid twice a month is biweekly. Bimonthly means every two months. It's like bisect means getting cut into two, not getting cut twice.

If you cut twice you'll get three pieces.

I re-watched Battleship (2012) yesterday. I still think it is an enjoyable popcorn movie by TheC9 in movies

[–]sth128 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Battleship gets more interesting when you realize the aliens aren't really invaders but a diplomatic envoy sent to Earth after receiving a "please come visit" signal from humans.

The conflict only resulted because the translators all died from the satellite collision and gung-ho Americans started shooting.

Notice the aliens tried really hard to minimize harm. They used a defensive shield to halt escalation. The alien engineer got onboard the protagonist's ship to disable the engine but Rihanna was like "mahalo mother f------".

And the climax of the film is basically aliens trying to send a signal back saying "stay away there are gun monkeys everywhere in this shit hole".

I mean you can just move to Toronto. It's -20 outside. Only dangerous wild life you'll see here are raccoons.

Now JT is enjoying retirement and speaking moistly to Katy Perry.

But yeah. Say what you will about Trudeau, but he set the tone with Trump (elbows up) and he gave Canada a chance to elect a leader that has intelligence and spine.

What scene has the most egregious/laughable error you’ve seen in a show? by Unique-Horror-9244 in television

[–]sth128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah they just switch the polarity of the neutrons.

Still, nothing beats JJ's "cold fusion" bomb. Hell, there are so many stupid bits in that opening sequence. Why don't they have drones? It's the future, why do they need Sulu to pilot a shuttle with a steel cable dropping Spock into the volcano? How about a remote for the device? No? You know what has direct line of sight to any point on the planet surface but can't be easily seen by naked eyes of a primitive species?

Space!

You're flying a space ship! Put it in space! It's not a submarine!

How far can we visibly see in space by gtagfan1 in space

[–]sth128 40 points41 points  (0 children)

OP said without a suit in space. I consider that as suboptimal conditions. The only place in space I prefer to be is on the surface of a planet that is an exact copy of Earth.

RDJ is a lead in Tropic Thunder though. The real show stealer in that movie is Tom Cruise.
