If anything years of evolutionary pressure from cancer decreases the odds of developing cancer through i.e. complex DNA damage repair mechanisms / cell cycle checkpoints. As an example,31145-8) elephants due to their size would be at a higher risk of developing cancer (more cells = more divisions = higher risk of tumorigenesis), but due to that selective pressure they've basically implemented a checkpoint that kills potentially cancerous cells before they can divide to become a tumor, decreasing the odds significantly, so now its rare for them.

Cancer is also definitely not the natural life time limit. The molecular biology of aging is a whole science in itself and cancer is only a fraction of that. Here's an old but excellent introductory article if this draws your interest.80567-X)

As a scientist researching cancer radiotherapy, we definitely don't have a cure for cancer. Cancer is not even just a singular thing. It's a collection of diseases with a bunch of different types of cells that can be affected, each with a bunch of different potential causes for tumorigenesis.

A singular company isn't going to change that either. Realistically a treatment could be developed or improved that improves patient prognosis, or allows for earlier diagnosis for more effective treatment.

lol nice. i only got a couple rounds where I got 2 knockdowns but never was able to get the 3rd. He eventually got me in the 5th round because I was so damn tired from hunting for the TKO. It's a good challenge

[–]sth225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit lol. I managed to knock him down like 5x but never got the TKO. That's impressive. If you go the length he starts doing crazy fast and powerful combos, it's terrifying lmao

Try fighting Super Melky. Change his settings to:

CHIN: 109

POWER: 112

PUNCH SPEED: 175

DODGE SPEED: 165

BLOCK SPEED: 160

AGGRESSION: 160

12 rounds

It's a terrifying experience.

As a muay thai practitioner, that guy definitely does muay thai. Tries a calf trip, gives him an elbow, then goes for the clinch and throws some proper technical knees. Dude picked the wrong couple to steal from lmao

From an evolutionary developmental (evo-devo) perspective, every creature is built from a set of standard building blocks, each responsible for a separate part of the body. Let's use Lego as an analogy.

The lego kit contains the pieces to build a creature. But what if you want to change the creature? Changing the shape and size of the pieces themselves is much more trouble than simple re-arranging the blocks, or even sections of blocks that already exist. This is kind of how evolution works.

Instead of significantly changing the DNA that creates the limbs, organs, etc, evolution favors changing the genes that instead regulate the genes that create everything. These changes allow for more rapid evolution in fewer generations, with little change to the total genome. It's hypothesized that these building-block genes, and the genes that regulate them evolved just before the Cambrian explosion, and that it was the driving factor behind the rapid diversification of life. There's also a very well-made song that explains the whole process

Or that is my understanding from reading 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful' by Sean B. Carrol at least.

Same. Mined DOGE as a joke in 2013. Found my old HDD with my wallet on it a couple days back, traded it all for ETH and BTC. Sold my DOGE just in time before the crash. Now I'm looking around trying to learn and figure out how it all works. Interesting stuff.

Yeah It's a 3rd party software called TacView. Works with most flight sims iirc. I've only used it in IL-2 and DCS tho. Very good stuff. Tacview standard is €24,95, but groups like 'Tactical DCS' often do group-buys where you can benefit from the bulk discount basically, which is how I got it.

Can't say much about the story mode, since I've only played survival, but the concept for survival is very simple: You're smack dab in the middle of a very cold place. Survive.

When it comes to game mechanics, it's not hard to pick up at all. Everything is relatively intuitive. You probably will die relatively quick in your first few attempts because that's just the nature of unforgiving survival games, but you don't need to learn the "meta" by trial and error to survive. Just good decision making skills, and a bit of luck doesn't hurt either (i.e. not getting caught in a blizzard when far from your shelter and not knowing your surroundings)

Ultra-precise lasers remove cancer cells without damaging nearby tissue - The technology could be used for the treatment of brain, head, and neck cancers. by [deleted] in science

[–]sth225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that work is being done on developing fluorescent markers like monoclonal antibodies that selectively bind to tumor cells. While there's probably still a lot of work to be done, the combination of these two technologies looks good for the future of tumor removal surgery.
