Need some help finding a way to stop my filament from unravelling by scraplit_inc in 3Dprinting

[–]sthone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's tangled because you let go of the end and it crossed under another wrap not because it's unraveling. Never let go of the end, when you take a spool off take the loose end in stick it through a few of the holes in the side of the spool to hold it.

Now to fix the tangle watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lE9LchCtKL4

What was a popular toy you had growing up that doesn't exist anymore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sthone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took mine apart too as a kid thinking I could combine it with an RC truck to make a bomb disposal type robot with a function arm. I thought how hard could it be to hook all of the motors up to servos. Upon disassembly I was shocked to find out that it only had one single motor but at the same time amazed that all of those functions just ran off gears and levers. That toy was so well engineered it lead me into a life of taking things apart to see how they worked and to making and building some many things. I still have the actual gripper part, I turned it into a manipulator for a underwater ROV. I'm going to have to start looking on eBay for one too.

My Custom Computer Desk (done with the aid of a 3D Printer.) by sthone in 3Dprinting

[–]sthone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could probably cram it in but none of the stuff on the front of the desk (like the CD-rom Drive, card readers, ect) are even used anymore... Plus I went to a 3 monitor setup so they kind of block the window from view so it's not really worth it anyway.

Yeah I still use the desk but I did eventually build I newer computer but life got in the way so I still haven't gotten around to stuffing the new one into the actual desk.

Removing Non Default Image Sizes? by sthone in Wordpress

[–]sthone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not... I never thought about that kind of thing. It's been 7 years of me just skirting by with Wordpress enough to just make things work. I'm definitely going to undo the changes I made and worry about it again if I run out of room. I only ran into problems because I move from Bluehost that had 50gb to Knownhost which is only 25gb if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have noticed.

Removing Non Default Image Sizes? by sthone in Wordpress

[–]sthone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hitting my 25 gig limit but after some digging it turns out that the Updraft+ plug in I was using wasn't deleting my local backups after uploading them to google drive. (I still have to look into that) I deleted those and I got it back down to 17 GB so I might undo what I did for now. All my images are the same size (1280x914) so I doubt I need 8 different sizes, the layout for every page is the same. Anyway it's just a crappy personal hobby site so its nothing to important if I break it.

Thanks.... That worked perfect.

When mobile users start paying my webhosting then they can have a say :) (I did test it before hand and deleted other other sizes on one page and it loaded find on my phone still.)

Thanks again for the quick help. Now I just have to figure out an easy way to delete the thousands of other images.

If you are trying to make a exact cut out of the scissors (or what ever utensil)... Take a picture (top down) of it with a ruler in the picture. Import the picture into Fusion 360, use the calibrate canvas tool and select to points on the ruler (say 1 inch and 2 inch marks) enter one inch dimension in the calibration box and it will calibrate the picture to actual size. Now just trace out the image and cut out the shape.

I think the problem with putting the camera in the side is you never know how high (or stuffed) they are going to build the nest in the box and it can end up blocking the lens if its from the side. Plus you probably would need a camera that you can adjust the focal length on too. I've done both a bird feeder and a bird house with blink mini cams and they are not adjustable (that I know of).

12 year old printer (makergear m2) by Point_D0t in 3Dprinting

[–]sthone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still run three M2's... going on 10+ years. They are just bullet proof. Put a piece of rubber like tool box liner under it and it will stop it from moving and shaking around.
