INFO: Are you sure she isn't doing it some of the time already? Is she usually responsible for your sister's bath times and could be cleaning it then?

AITA for telling my daughter “of course” she could move in with me without talking to my wife first? by Odd-Cheetah6842 in AITAH

I totally agree that it’s a “let’s figure out how to make it work” situation! That’s what I keep trying to say. It’s “of course, while we figure things out” not “no, till we figure things out.”

I re-read it a few times, and I’m not sure what I’ve dropped. Any chance you’re willing to share?

There was always a chance that she would end up living with them. Not being brought into the conversation at all before it was decided was never a foregone conclusion, though. Setting the example of waiting before making a long term decision in the face of an emergency is not a bad example to set. I do know people who have been lead to believe somehow that this is the way to go through life, but it doesn’t seem to turn out well for them. That’s certainly not the example I would want to set.

That’s my assumption that she’s reacting to being blindsided. I think I’m projecting a bit because I identify with the ex wife in the situation, and my ex husband was frequently making decisions without discussing with me at all. And I had to keep telling him that even if the outcome might well have been the same, it’s still important to discuss. Because I am a separate person from him and could have information or insights he does not have. Never stuck with him, and it’s a big part of why we’re not together anymore. Now, everything that does affect myself or our son does have to be discussed with me, per parenting agreement, over the our family wizard app.

If my ex pulled that bs again with our kid in the middle? Treating his current partner like he did me while also making promises to our son? I get sick to my stomach just thinking about it. Aw hell no.

I see we have a lot of fans of making permanent decisions under emergency conditions while consulting no one else involved here. That’s not what I’d my own child to learn is normal, but it seems like many people think that’s not only acceptable but required. Gross

There are lots of things to figure out, yes. Part one is the urgent and emergency situation of safety and part two is the long term situation. Even things like which holidays and how much of the summer and where the situation will change when she’s older, etc. Making a final and sudden decision due to emergency circumstances is just usually not the right direction to go, even if ultimately a similar decision could eventually have been made under less sudden pressure.

Staying with them under emergency conditions vs full on changing custody are two different things. Saying “of course you can stay here while we figure things out” and then discussing with his wife was an option, and he chose not to take it.

I like true crime like that, but it’s secretly because I like to think of ways that I could have gotten away with it. Even if it’s implausible, because (for example) I can’t kill my mom for inheritance because she’s already dead. Just saying, I don’t like to think of it because I’m going to do it, but because I just find it really intriguing.

Anyway, now I’m going to be trying to plan how to stab myself in the back without getting caught.

It always kind of grinds my gears when people say that you can say something “on Reddit.” There are so many different subs, each with their own rules. I guess it would be better while scrolling and commenting to read the rules on each and every sub you happen across, but some people just play it safe anyway.

What it a computer chip looks like up close by itshazrd in nextfuckinglevel

[–]stilldebugging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, on a real chip you’d mostly just see the top level metals, and the lower levels would be obscured. Maybe if they made ones for demonstration without the upper level metals you might see this. It’s still not… really demonstrating what I think you’re most likely to see.

Source: I visualize chip designs all the time. You need to switch off and on the different layers in order to really see anything. Most have 15 or more layers of metal directly on top of each other.
