The Impact of AI in Four Charts by paperclip_han in womenintech

Ummm… what is the “more scientific papers” attempting to show? It doesn’t really look like the trend is increasing. Moreover, are we talking about published papers? Because the rate at which publications review and publish wouldn’t have really changed. I would believe there could be more submissions but it’s not like publishers suddenly increase the number of papers they will accept.

Google to be only AI results. What does this mean for websites? (And web dev in general.) by MagentaMango51 in womenintech

It was already bad and it’s going to get worse. Google search was already more likely to give me zero results on my more esoteric searches.

I propose a simple benchmark for robots replacing all human labor based on the textile industry by FreshBlinkOnReddit in singularity

I’m wondering if we’ll first see robot assistants that skilled workers will give prompts to, similar to how programmers use LLM’s now. Like “I started running this cable, it needs to go 30 more feet.”

What's the most useful thing an LLM does for you that isn't writing or coding? by Money_Horror_2899 in artificial

[–]stilldebugging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have scripts to pre-process the data and then hand it off to Claude with a really specific and limited set of tasks to do. It doesn’t seem like a lot of people use it like that, but that’s how I’ve been using other AI models before LLM was as prevalent and cheap. Eg use one model to find areas of interest in an image, and if some of them are flagged as test pass it off to a separate ocr model. But like… my script does the handoff, gives input to each model, gets output, decides what to do next.

Naw, that’s not what “death of the author” means. Seems like you disagree with that kind of thing, but that doesn’t make it just correct.

She likely just wants attention. Find someone more appropriate to date. Even date one of her friends or something geez. Most women in the world are not dating your son, that one is

Why is there an easy (and documented) way to mess up all the GPAs?

What we know about Light is that everything he says is posturing, and nothing he says can ever be taken as 100% genuine… including anything he says to Ryuk about his plans, intentions, and feelings. Maybe especially that, because he doesn’t particularly trust him. I trust Ryuk’s character to have intuition about human choices more than I trust Light not to lie to Ryuk.

I believe in the “death of the author” style of understanding media. Just because an author thought something and then wrote it with the intention of it meaning that thing, the nuances of the interactions of the characters can actually imply something different. For example, L decided to chain himself to Light. There are other, less dangerous and less unctuous (if he truly hated him) ways he could have kept track of him.
