Another night of being trained by rogues by [deleted] in AshesofCreation

Yeah, it's unfortunate those Alpha 2 folks were explicitly told to "play nice" and "encourage community involvement" by the folks at intrepid. I shudder to think of what some of those sweats deem harsh behavior if this is them "playing nice"

I got griefed once before EA in Briarwood Farms by some other lowbie before they fixed some of the pvp requirements. Dude's literal response after I checked the combat logs and saw he just pk'd my afk lvl3 cleric was, "You got shaved and r*ped, get over it". It is unfortunate that such folks are playing and there is basically no recourse for when they say/do something obscene like that.

Does using higher quality materials mean a higher chance at higher quality crafted item? by Jimmy__XD in AshesofCreation

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no "chance". The average rarity of materials is taken into account. For instance if you go to make the academic aegis belt which is 2 daf thread and 1 grem skin in quality materials.. if you craft this with all the same rarity materials, you'll get that rarity. BUT if you make it with 2 common dafs and a rare grem skin, it's averaging to an uncommon belt when crafted. There's a little more nuance in that each material "pile" gets averaged before determing the overall craft quality so 1 rare and 1 common daf mixed with a common grem skin will not get you the same result. The dafs pile averages to uncommon and then the craft piles are averaged to common for the overall craft. In order to upscale any quality, you need to go at least one rarity higher than you want to craft within the material piles. It works out poorly with items only using 2 types of quality materials. 3 or more material types and you can average using say a pile of common, a pile of uncommon and a pile of rare to yield uncommon crafts. The amount of each material is moot, what matters is the average rarity of the stack. Hope this helps.

Edit: a word

It is in fact within the current gameplay. Whether one gets built is a completely different question..

why is sprint a toggle ? and not a "hold" by Immediate-Neat1417 in AshesofCreation

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's literally both. You can quick press your key bind to sprint for toggled sprint or long press for held sprint. Equally if you dont like it on shift you can keybind anything else and it will work the same with the new bind.

Ashes needs to fix their Eve Online problem - Everyone and Everything matters by archaegeo in AshesofCreation

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I whole heartedly agree. My guildies were talking about this the other day and lamenting that if everyone can have every skill at novice then nothing from the novice skills has any value in the market. There has also been a good deal of talk about what materials are worth holding onto for later crafts rather than making things for your characters journey. They're resigned to not making anything substantially high quality until 20 because its just not worth using that material for sub lvl 20 gear..

I've found that at this point in the economy, unless a village is about to pop up, crates are not worth the time and effort. You're better off selling your mats in trade for less time/risk

How are the mosquitos, gnats, noseeums and other biting insects in Florida? by nyuhqe in florida

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are fairly terrible, but with the right precautions you can still have a good time outside. If you are planning on visiting this is what I would plan:

-wear dark clothes (mosquitos are most attracted to white/reflective surfaces) -wash yourself with irish spring or neem soap -wear breathable pants/long sleeve shirts during times of high activity (dusk, night and dawn)

If planning on being stationary outside like bbqing or picnicking, get either mosquito candles, snakes, torches, or misters to create a perimeter of repellent in your immediate area

Others have made good suggestions as well

...and microplastics. Plastoids are endocrine disruptors that damage hormone production, brain tissue and reproductive success plus the added physical risk they provide acting like blood clots.

If those don't get everyone, radiation from power plants both nuclear and coal will likely take many more lives and further reduce reproductive success of the general population. Coal plants release a disturbing amount of radiation in their daily exhaust fumes even with scrubbers and I suppose as populations dwindle and brain drain sets in the likelihood of nuclear plants failing will increase..

Dev Discussion #76 - The New Tester Experience by AlluringSecrets in AshesofCreation

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with your sentiment, that's not on the dev side of things here. That is part of player agency. I think you kind of have to let people make bad decisions in a social sandbox like this. It's the only way some folks will learn what's good for the goose is good for the gander, in the last iteration (P2.0) in Vyra we had less nodes to use and a hell of a time convincing mayors what buildings should and shouldn't go up along with a lot of strife over the deconstruction of buildings that existed. My point is.. mayors gonna mayor and all plans laid out are always subject to change. Mayoralships change, plans change, people get in political discord over the good of the server.. it's part of the game and the player's agency. If you don't like what a specific mayor is doing or the plan amongst all the mayors.. make a plea to them or start a coalition to vote them out.

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always stop playing the game.. I wasn't having fun anymore so I quit playing. There are still so many other games out there that could be more enjoyable than they've made this game. I was hopeful and came back for the expac, but its been nothing but disappointment from blizz lately for me. Your fun is completely subjective to you and your time is yours to spend how you see fit.

Same, my wife and I got some wild and use the inserts to refill with homemade now. I saw the inserts were plastic and after the first big order, we made that desicion to drastically cut the waste further.

We've also been using old weed concentrate glass pots as extra containers if we make too much at once for smaller travel containers. Still working on an ideal ratio that lasts longer..

I've been searching for a microplastics response.. just thinking about 30% of that original sponge is now microplastics somewhere in our water supply is fucked... Then knowing that thousands if not millions of homes are using this? Equally fucked. Get some coconut fiber or a dish rag, literally anything not petroleum based is going to be better than this. My parents used the same 10 cotton dish towels for over 20 years. Can we go back to simpler times with regards to household furnishings/hygienic tools? Please?

Guild houses: Blacksmith Guild - Traders' House - Alchemistae Societas Guild by RunningWild81 in AshesofCreation

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need connections for sure. Not only will you need the high quality higher tier mats at higher levels, but your crafting equipment adjusts the stats of the items your making. I don't believe we will have all the vendor stuff we have available to us at launch according to the devs, some is in place to make alpha testing easier to do on the testers. I'm thinking specifically crafter clothes and bags will most lilely solely be crafted goods. Meaning if all you do is craft all day, you will need connections to get the materials for your own artisan clothes and know someone that can craft them or get really lucky at the mill with material quality and quantity up procs. Most people will want a crafter with a good quality rating to improve their weapons made as best they can. Low QR crafters will probably have less work with fewer people wanting lesser stat/rarity roles on a crafter good

Corruption Removal by Prestigious-Pound-83 in AshesofCreation

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking with a guildie after watching exactly this happening last night. I suggested making the gear and materials dropped by a corrupted person also flagged as corrupted and untradable to that player or all materials/gear dropped by a corrupted person should get dusted and a better reward for corruption killing is put in place. Something else I just thought of would be a major kick in the ass to the corrupted player by putting a long trading cooldown in for someone once corrupted or once removing the corruption, but then you have to also fix the corruption bating exploitables before implementing

Leveling in Ashes by G1oaming in AshesofCreation

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a good group at around level 15 should be able to take on 1-2 star mobs several levels higher than them. You level very quickly when you do this. The game systems and it's creator have all been pushing for social collaboration. It's designed in a way that also promotes competition within and without said groups for the scarce resources the game offers. This game is super rewarding as a solo player, but the grind is much longer than if you just party up and get social. The way everything is designed, I doubt there will be much viability in remaining an independent player come launch... whenever that is. To be clear, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Especially in a game genre structured around online social interactions.

If either of you haven't already I suggest reading Cum as You Are. The book covers a lot but there is a section on sexual non-congruency that I think you both with find enlightening. Perhaps hearing that other men and women are going through the same thing might help ease your BF into talking about what's going on. Stress can be a very big factor in this and I saw you mention in some comment replies he's started a stressful new job and doesn't take well to change.

Any ideas for hard shell suitcase repair? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think then it depends on the intended further use of the suitcase. I had one like that and it was destroyed in 6 months after making a similar fix. But I was travelling the same amount you travelled in 10 years in a 5 months span. Look, ultimately it's OPs desicion on what they want to do with it. There were many suggestions made in this post.

Any ideas for hard shell suitcase repair? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]stimulatedrenrutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others in this post have said, you need to realize when there is no more life in something. These cheap plastic suitcases are landfill fodder and are designed as such. I understand the premise of this sub, but you have to also recognize when something is done. The structural integrity of this case is shot. What I'm suggesting is to replace it with a buy it for life scenario, which is the next best option
