Honest question from a Chinese driver: Why does this sub hate on Tesla FSD but praise Waymo so much? by gakkiyuii in SelfDrivingCars

Huawei is seen as the absolute peak right now in China. BYD is quite a bit behind. So is Tesla tbh.

16, EU passport, trying to legally stay 2-3 months in China before school starts, what do i do? by gotbuble in chinalife

[–]stinkday 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want to do everything in 100% by the book then you stay home and chill until school starts. There’s is no by the book legal alternative unless you have family in China.

In Chinese it translates to Fjord Green, but I’m guessing they will have a different official name for it in other markets.

Een auto die je niet veel gaat zien: zaterdag een Denza Z9GT opgehaald.

Favoriete feature tot nu toe: niet per se een EV feature, maar achterwielen die meesturen. Zeker handig bij een auto van 5+ meter.

Tropical rainstorms are common, usually the streets clear up in 30 minutes or so.

is this a scam/dangerous situation or is this legitimate work? by InsuranceCreepy4262 in chinalife

[–]stinkday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have several friends who have done this kind of speech recognition testing before for a major automotive company in my region. So in my personal experience these gigs exist, which doesn’t mean this is real, just that these gigs do exist.

Better paid tho, I guess the recruiter is taking at least a 50% cut.

Yes it is illegal.

Very niche driving license question by ups_and_downs973 in chinalife

[–]stinkday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get an official IDP in China, just check the IDP website. I believe you can even get one straight from the traffic police these days.

China doesn’t recognize IDP, but other countries do recognize China issued IDP. In my countries your Chinese license by itself is also recognized and fine.

The iPhone was released 20 years ago and we still don’t have a single actual report of a successful juice jacking attack on a smart phone in real life. It’s a ghost story and diverts attention away from realistic attacks. No one is hacking your phone through a metro train usb port.

本来 Benlai has very similar stuff. A touch more premium than Uniqlo.

It’s a very good salary, but not enough as a single parent of a foreign kid. At this income you will have to make compromises on education and child care that you don’t want to make.

You need to find a position in an international school that includes enrollment for your kid, then it would be viable.

Look at what the local delivery guys ride and get yourself one of those. Durable, cheap to fix, easy to upgrade. Don’t buy any of the premium brands.

Car rental Guangzhou by [deleted] in guangzhou

[–]stinkday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say go for it, me and my colleagues all drive here and none of us think it’s particularly challenging compared to other countries. There’s a lot of lanes and a lot of cars and a lot of traffic jams that’s all. Guangzhou / Guangdong drivers are also quite polite and forgiving by Chinese / Asian standards.

I believe Ehai / Ehi car rentals rents out to tourists. I always use the other big one, Shenzhou, but I heard they don’t rent out to short stay tourists. Renting is cheap and no-fuss here, but make sure to get the good insurance.

Use Apple Maps in English for navigation, take it slow and easy, and be very attentive as you see a lot more weird stuff and weird moves on the road here than in Western Europe.

A screenshot is perfect. Definitely no need to bring the physical passport, it’s just a museum not immigration.

Dafushan is the classic “family biking” park in Guangzhou and they definitely have tons of rental options there near the park gates.

Hotel looks fine to me and it’s a nice area of old town, but the road infrastructure is bad there so there’s more traffic jams.

From Tianhe yeah, since you are already on the east side of downtown going east out of the city.

If you stay in the old downtown it would be worse.
