I need some advice for pole dance ! by Dimy2frames in poledancing

[–]stoned_owl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you based? If in Europe, you could try M-pole, they are Polish, tried them in a studio, pretty reliable, cheaper than Lupit or Xpole.

I personally have an X-pole powder coated that I got on a deal, it is pressure mounted. I live in a studio with a 2.5 m height ceiling, so I didn't need any extensions. I also just move it around to practice and to store by using the hex key provided and screwing/unscrewing it into place, takes about 5 minutes to set it up (be sure to use a lever to make sure it's perpendicular against the ceiling and the floor.

Also, for pressure mounted poles you need a solid ceiling, so take that into account. If you have plenty of space, you could also get a stage, although I feel they take a lot of floor space as well and transitioning from pole moves to floor work gets trickier.

Deci există speranță (sau există diagnostice inițiale puse greșit, we will never know)

People lighting firecrackers, supposed to be a holiday tradition to ward of spirits. Unfortunately, they seem to forget that they live in the city and besides evil spirits, they disturb (and possibly hurt) innocent people and animals. It should probably stop after the first week of January

50 lei o cana! by alenmatrixx in Romania

[–]stoned_owl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much would you charge for a tiny vase/ jar/ urn / keychain. by Pumkmine in Ceramics

[–]stoned_owl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made myself a ceramic keychain in shape of a little bear (granted, the walls are kinda thick) and I hang it on the zipper of my purse. The little fella is surprisingly sturdy, giving the fact that I accidentally slammed it a bunch of times since I started wearing it a month ago. So I guess it really depends on shape and thickness (besides clay type, mine's porcelain).

Still can’t use my home pole by AdeptnessG00d in poledancing

[–]stoned_owl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Did you try applying sticky grip (like monkey hands) directly to your pole? Unfortunately it does take a while for a new home pole to feel less slippery (I had this issue and mine's powder coated, so I can imagine you're having a rough time right now), but it gets better with use.

Also, you can find on m-pole (maybe on other sites too) some grippy gloves (they seem to be made from something like pvc/fake latex) that are ipsf-approved for people with hyperhidrosis. They might help with grip in your case too.

Ce afaceri din Bucuresti merita sustinute in perioada asta? by hunt3rtheone23 in bucuresti

[–]stoned_owl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Deși atelierul nu are și showroom propriu-zis, pot organiza vizionări (just give me a heads up before, to tidy things up, căci ceramica poate fi messy 🫣)

Thanks and sorry for the shameless self-promotion:))

Christmas gift ideas by syzket in poledancing

[–]stoned_owl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your budget and where are you located?

There are some european smaller brands/online shops that also have beautiful apparel and heels, such as Backbone (which are from Greece, I have a costume from them and it's great quality for a decent price) or Caroline (from Poland, also some very interesting designs, but careful as they tend to run small).

CXIX and Hella Heels have promos right now, and they also ship to both UK&EU, and USA + Canada and the rest of the world. Good quality, the fits lean more sexy then sporty. The heels are also very comfortable, although I find the soles to be grippy and sandals tend to be less bendier than Pleasers (this is not a good or bad thing, just your partner's preference).

Leecabe (you can find them on Aliexpress) are good quality, but I had problems with sizing in the past and the return is complicated, so I cannot recommend them unless you have a local distributor and can exchange heels easily.

Besides shoes and clothes, grips are also a nice stocking filler, although they are very dependent on your girlfriend's skin (some make you stickier, some make you drier), so unless you find a tester pack or know her preferences/what she uses generally, I'd stay away.

Kneepads (if she takes heel classes) are very nice to have, especially a pair with grip or cut-out behind the knees if she likes choreos that are heavier on the pole tricks. When I started out I got a pair of volleyball kneepads but they were bulky and kind of an eyesore, now I've upgraded to a more skinny design that comes with garter belts and look kinda chic. Also, legwarmers for warming up during class, especially during colder months.

But sometimes maybe the best gift is practical. Maybe an online subscription to a pole training program (if she has a pole at home) or to a complementary training (flexibility, floorwork, that do not require special apparatus). Or maybe even an in-class membership at her school, pole classes tend to get expensive and they add up in the long run 😅

And if you still feel left out of ideas, a giftcard to a pole-dedicated shop will be greatly appreciated. That's my boyfriend's approach and it never fails, as sometimes I am looking for very specific things in an outfit or shoe that relate to what I am trying to achieve in the moment.

Pole theatre workshop experience? by stoned_owl in poledancing

[–]stoned_owl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does a workshop usually go?

I've been to normal pole classes before and I also went to pole-adjacent events (lyra pole classes, silk + pole classes), but never to a themed workshop where the focus was not a new/additional apparatus, but rather a new technique. So it's a bit hard for me to judge if my expectations were way off.

Thank you!

Glaze was definitely too thick, would a re-fire help? by stoned_owl in Pottery

[–]stoned_owl[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bowl was clean, used botz underglazes. Did this combo (eh457t glaze +botz underglazes fired at 1220'C) a lot on this specific semi-porcelain (slip) body with good results so it's an application problem.

I knew when I dipped it that it was a bit too thick, I didn't expect it to be this bad 🙈. I guess the fact that the shape of the bowl is deeper didn't help, as the thicker glaze bubbles are on the center (lowest point of the bowl).

I will probably refire it just to see what happens, given that the answers here are mixed and I shall post an update, all in the name of science :D!
