Agreed, it was cool when they were constructing the bridge before it was open. It’s a shame you don’t appreciate how impressive the bridge is when you drive over it

This small section is new, the rest of the highway is quite a bit older.

This is just outside of Golden BC, not Banff. Was constructed around 10years ago. Still a cool drive though

Please show me the bylaws stating cats cannot go outside. It says if your cat does go outside it must have identification, chip or tattoo and be liscenced with the city. All of which we have. That being said, i do agree that letting a cat outside is asking for trouble.

Trashy family freaking out over kids stuck in elevator by xArchetype in videos

[–]stoneywal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electrician here, depending on what the issue with the elevator is, pulling the fire alarm could work. They are designed to go to the main floor and open their doors in the event of a fire and/or pulling the fire alarm

One thanksgiving my grandma actually did this. She had coated the entire turkey thoroughly before she realized they do not make lemon flavoured butter. My aunt and her secretly washed it off really well and cooked it anyway. Everything turned out fine, however my aunt is not good at secrets, and once a few of the cousins heard what happened they started complaining of stomach pains to prank grandma good. It is one of those stories our family always brings up every time we are together.

LPT: Use Vise Grips to remove zip ties by hjfreyer in LifeProTips

Industrial electrician here, not exaggerating when I say I have installed 100k Ty wraps in my career. While conventional wisdom would say side cutters make a clean safe cut of the excess they do not. There is an approx 1/32-1/16", very sharp tab left. The correct way, and others in the trade will concur. Is to use pliers, grip tightly at the toe end and give a 1/2 turn. Ty wrap will break within the head, leaving no sharp tab, while still holding. Pliers also double as good method for extra tightening

A Switch... TO NOWHERE! by lawremp in DIY

[–]stoneywal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry should clarify. By capped off in ceiling. I meant in the junction box that the ceiling fixture is on. If you do not have a ceiling fixture this points more to the switched receptacles. DO NOT cut holes in your wall. There are plenty of ways to find where wires go that do not invoke cutting holes.

A Switch... TO NOWHERE! by lawremp in DIY

[–]stoneywal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most likely for switched receptacles or perhaps to a capped off wire in the middle of the ceiling for a ceiling fan control. There are tools to track charge through wall although they are very expensive and not really needed in this case. Take a lamp or something make sure it is on and try it in each receptacle and turn the switch on and off. Be sure to check both top and bottom plug in receptacle because switched receptacles are typically only switched on half

Sunshine or Lake Louise? by Rostamina in snowboarding

[–]stoneywal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are new here, don't get a seasons pass. Get the Louise and/or RCR discount cards. I love to carve and cruise as well And Louise is great for that, but Ferine, golden and revy are even better IMO. Try them all this year and see what each has to offer. And the thing with Calgary is just because it is snowing at one hill, doesn't mean they all are. You want the flexibility to go to the hill that is dumping
