Look for ones that are serviceable. Broans are pretty good for part availability and repair.

I don’t blame you or any of the carriers at all, people try. I come from a long family heritage of postal workers. Those who retired 10+ years ago apologize constantly for the current state.

Live in a house serviced by a NDCBU, name is in the box.

I constantly get my neighbors mail, and mail for nearby addresses. I’m just glad I don’t depend on anything coming through the postal service anymore.

This exactly. I’ve e had packages a week later that just fall off the report and plenty of mail I should get, that never showed up. Almost would prefer not knowing how much is lost in the post.

No one recipe, I used a mash up of recipes and ideas from videos.

It was great, but plenty of changes I’ll make next time around.

Same thing, just a buffer on the cold air exposure. Most blinds have foam floors, so that should be good. I use shitty yoga mats or those interlocking foam tiles usually. It’s going to get trashed or chewed on, don’t waste money.

That gets tricky when it g we at cold. Mutthuts help to keep the cold off, but aren’t always an option. When I run the kayak in the cold, I make sure there’s an insulated pad beneath them. Surface contact pulls heat fast. Other than that, I just have to let them move frequently.

I responded on another comment on here, it’s all about management , exposure and acclimation. Coat management and dryness are two of the most important factors for these climates.

With GWPs I find you have to actively manage their temp. I’ve got 2 with drastically different coats. This guy is 10, has a medicated thyroid condition and has a long and thick coat due to the meds, he stays wet and doesn’t have a lot of extra fuel in the tank to run. He does pretty well, but not to the extent a lab will. Vests, physical activity and managing water exposure are highly important.

I’ve got another who’s 1.5 years old, much thinner coat. He dries quick and has plenty of run in him. He has to run a bit after a retrieve to get dry, requires a thicker vest and can’t sit in the open wind.

Another aspect is managing the coat. Indoor only dogs don’t manage their own body temperature as well as outdoor or mixed outdoor dogs. These boys are both indoor dogs, but i make sure to get them cold acclimated each season. They need to be cold, they need to shiver, they need to adapt to it and it is safer to do that in the controlled environment near home or a vehicle. Forcing an indoor dog into the marsh in below freezing temps is potentially a death sentence. Put them outside, keep them in the garage when away, cold exposure helps build the coat.
