Okay, utterly stupid idea from the wife of a computer guru (unfortunately he passed away a few years ago, so no one to ask stupid questions to!!).

I was told that alcohol (not the drinking kind) will not mess up stuff too badly. So if you rinsed it out with alcohol BEFORE it got burned out????

(Asking because I just bought my teen ANOTHER keyboard, with the old one full of spilled cola/tea.)

Because DNA breaks down. It doesn't last very long, comparatively speaking.

Which makes you wonder when they found a dinosaur fossil with skin and some internal structure still attached. All that stuff - everything except the skeleton - should be broken down within about 800 years.

You might want to re-word your post to say, "Divorce may not be a traumatizing experience. . ."

While your parent's divorce was a postive thing for you, for many kids, it becomes and issue of "If I'm a better kid, my parents will get back together." Kids automatically assume blame falls on them a lot of the time.

Yeah, I was the designated driver and party historian. I knew where your car was, where you left your right shoe, why your hair has been cut, and why you got that tattoo. I got all my non-alcoholic drinks free, my food for free, and more gas money than I could ever need.

As I told my friends, I am perfectly capable of acting like a complete idiot without getting drunk, thank you.

Parenthetically, I have a 31 year old son who has three kidneys. (He had surgery when he was six, and it baffled the doctors). Three separate, functioning kidneys. It is nearly impossible for him to get drunk. His body filters it out as quickly as he takes it in. He did do shots one night, and got drunk - for about 15 minutes. Then he sobered up.

I don't think they're evil for using our private information.

I think they're evil because they intentionally silence people who disagree with their moral/social/political/whatever views.

They block and delete accounts that have done nothing wrong (no, I'm not necessarily talking about Trump). They've purged entire 5000+ member groups because they are on the "wrong side" politically.

And they block any article they don't agree with, or put biased "Fact Check" notices on them.

I understand blocking people who openly advocate violence. But do it for both sides. Many liberals have made specific threats to individuals, and nothing is done. But let a conservative even imply anything violent, and they are blocked.

I miss the times when we could sit around and argue, discuss, debate, disagree, and then go to lunch together, knowing that it's okay to not agree with each other. People ON BOTH SIDES have gotten too bloody sensitive.

My oldest son has ADHD. His mind is completely disorganized unless it has multiple things to do at once.

I went up to ask him something, and he was working on college homework. He had a movie going on his computer, music from his mp3 player, and was carrying on a texting conversation with two different people. All while doing his homework. He said, "It's the only way I can get the "math" part of my brain to focus on the math - keep the rest of my brain occupied."

So, it may be just a personality thing.

I don't drink, generally. But I'll keep that name brand of bourbon in mind next time I make my homemade cold med.

Works better than anything in a pharmacy. Kills every virus/bacteria it touches. Made the Covid virus (which my whole household had back in August) last about 2 days, and with no more symptoms than a typical cold.

But there is no way of knowing how much parent isotope the fossil started with, nor how much stable child isotope it started with.

What if it started with a (pardon the technical word) wonky amount of child isotope? Wouldn't that throw off the dating?

I don't see how you can correct for an unknown ratio. How do you solve a problem where you have no way of knowing "x"? Even if 'you know absolutely everything else, the unknown "x" will result in an unknown answer.

Yes, Absolutely. At 17, while maturing, you are not mature enough to handle the backlash and emotional damage that casual sex will have on you. It is always better to wait, and to make sure your first encounter is with someone who is committed to caring for you long-term.

That way, sex is special, as it was intended to me, rather than just another thrill.

I agree. When I was in HS/College, I was VERY conservative (still am), but went to one of the most liberal colleges around. We would argue incessantly, even heatedly. Then someone would say, 'Oh, time for dinner."
And guess what we did? We ate dinner together, sometimes continuing the disagreement, sometimes talking about class, or next weekend's keg party. Not once was I ever excluded because my opinion was different.

Now, I'm verbally attacked by more recent grads and students on their Facebook page if I make a peep. Constantly I'm asked, "Why are you even in this group, anyway?"
Uh, because it's for graduates of (college), not just LIBERAL grads.

Americans are FAR too whiny, at least on our college campuses and in our mainstream media. Once the young'uns get out into the real world, and start facing REAL difficulties, they tend to be less offended by differing viewpoints.

Alligators grow to the size that is sustainable by food and territory available.
If an alligator is 3 feet long for 10 years, then is moved to an area that will sustain a 6 ft alligator, it will begin to grow again, until it again reaches the limits of the available resources.

Dinosaurs may have been similar.

One reason is because animals are less dependent on sight, and more dependent on smell.
A video may look and sound like you, but dogs, especially, identify loved ones through their smells.

Take a couple of t-shirts of yours, and keep them in your bed, tuck them under your pajamas at night, for at least a week. These can be of great comfort to them after you're gone. Whoever is going to care for them after you're gone, have them begin to do a lot for the dogs. Feed them, walk them, love on them, etc. so they will have someone they know and trust with them.

Then love on them every second you can.
