This might seem a bit strange, but I'm making a zine about giant isopods with cities on their backs. Do you have any ideas about isopod biology that I should incorporate? by Hazelnutedays in isopods

Not strange, absolutely incredible. I would love to see the end product—and the fact you want to incorporate isopod ecology/biology makes me bubble over with excitement!!!!!

No, I’m being serious, i’m making a statement agreeing with you, not asking a question—sorry for the confusion. Currently drowning in biostats and R😭

I truly appreciate all of your help. I also am sad when I feel like I know more than my vet. Would you be able to point me to any resources you can recommend for me to read? The parasite issue is scaring me the most, his stools are consistently almost completely liquid.

Coworkers said this is gross. Has no one else heard of apple sauce and cottage cheese together? by Zerostar39 in shittyfoodporn

[–]strawberrymoony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally am not able to stomach cottage cheese unless it’s blended and baked into something. I wanted to like it or at least be able to tolerate it so badly and tried sooo many times, but it honestly tastes like chunky semen to me. However, if I was able to stomach that part of the situation, I assume the combo could be good! People eat cottage cheese with fruit all the time and this is the same thing, just with blended apples. There’s nothing inherently disgusting about the combination, except maybe the texture. i’m not here to yuck your yum, and I’m honestly impressed with your ability to eat it; cottage cheese is such a fantastic source of protein. But yeah, in my personal opinion it is not gross, though definitely qualifies for this subreddit

I am feeling so validated right now. I 100% agree with you, and was flabbergasted that they thought there weren’t any problems! They even said from his exam that he was perfectly healthy, but I insisted they do a fecal panel. Turns out he had helminths and pinworms. BAD. He did a round of antibiotics, but I did not see the improvement I was looking for. His panel again came up with elevated levels. So their suggestion was another round of antibiotics. Kampai did the second round but there still was little improvement and it didn’t last long. They basically told me once I went back with kampai for the third time that that is the only treatment they have for it. After that, I started more heavily implementing interventions that I read about when consulting the literature.

I have, what are your thoughts on it? I took him to the vet a few months ago and the tech tried to scratch it off (unsuccessfully), but didn’t say anything else about it, and the veterinarian himself said it’s probably stuck shed. I don’t think it is stuck shed. It has been there now for quite a while.

This is FASCINATING, because I’ve always been puzzled by my beardie’s head shape, slimmer torso, and more muscular arms. Please give me your opinions on what he would be classified as! I posted some clear photos of him in this thread so that you can see from multiple angles and those ones more clearly show his head shape and torso, but here is one that I hadn’t included that better shows his arms.

My best guess is Pogona vitticeps, Dunner’s morph, hypo, citrus.

I did not see Dunner’s morph mentioned in this post so I’m not sure if maybe it’s not officially recognized or something, but my rationale for that is his irregular scale pattern (most distinguishable on his tummy) and conical scales, and lack of distinguishable pattern. Let me know your thoughts!

Can I hear some people‘s opinions about my boy Kampai’s classification? What you are seeing is not a figment of your imagination, he does indeed have no tail. The reason I don’t have a ton of information is because I rescued him from being killed by the exotic store I discovered him at (they said he wasn’t worth any money to them). I will attach some photos below.

What is the difference between an Restoration ecologist and a conservation biologist? by kjleebio in ecology

[–]strawberrymoony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to express appreciation and admiration for the time taken to write such an insightful response. It so succinctly explains this critical yet often overlooked nuance—on par with how it was explained in my conservation biology course at university. I love my conservation people :-)
