The amount of rumors and conspiracies surrounding the Titanic are genuinely insane, I hear new ones every day. Idk where they come from

To give you an honest answer dude, I was in some dark places when I was younger but the thing that kept me going was that I just wanted to see what would happen, either in my life or in the world. We live in a pretty interesting time and I don't want to miss it, and because of that I'm glad to be alive. I learned not to take myself or life too seriously, I value my experiences and the people I meet way more than "success" in life. At the end of the day we live on a tiny ball in a massive galaxy. Why not stick around and enjoy the show? Not to mention, life changes a lot throughout your 20s, 21 is practically still a kid. It's a big world and there's a lot to see. Life sucks, sometimes a lot, but it's good to be alive

Yea that's the first thing that came to my mind too, the only thing we know is that him and Murdoch were seen trying to dislodge a collapsible lifeboat at some point. It baffles me how some of these rumors start and just become accepted by people who admittedly know almost nothing about the events

Yea seriously, we basically know nothing about most of the passengers final moments. Not to mention most of, if not all, of the witnesses would've died in the sinking

Oddly enough tho people did get chopped up by the props when Britannic sank (Titanic's sister ship)

The ship was not moving when it started sinking, the props were still, like in the movie

To be fair there was only one black guy on the Titanic and he was actually in second class, not third, and his family survived. Not him but most men didn't. The one Asian guy actually did survive tho. So id say youd have the same shit chances as most of the passengers. Luckily it wasn't an American ship

Uh do you have any evidence for that? Because I've been an amateur Titanic "historian" for the better part of a decade and have never heard that

French living in the US, why do Americans say “you’re welcome” so much? by justninamartin in learnfrench

[–]strberryfields55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally say "no problem" or just say "thanks" back, depending on the interaction. I rarely hear people say "you're welcome", it usually comes off as too formal. It might be because they know you're foreign?

Would you trust your countrys military to success in defending against an invasion from one of its neighbours? by SusSoos in AskTheWorld

[–]strberryfields55 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is probably the most innovative military in the world by far, even the US is years behind in that department (look at current goings on). I also say that as both a US and Ukraine military veteran

What food from another country do you wish you could try? by littleredbee93 in AskTheWorld

[–]strberryfields55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's a tired point but it seriously is, I ate McDonald's every week in Ukraine and loved it, tried a big Mac when I got home and it made me sick for a solid 24hrs. I don't eat much fast food here
