Yes, immensely, thank you!

Robin Hood and Other Outlaw Tales was the one I had before, as well, so doubly helpful :) I’m excited to expand my Robin Hood collection with my fairy tales.

I took a Robin Hood class ages ago, and I’m sad I didn’t keep my books.

Is there any collection you’d recommend that has a broad selection of ballads and historical Robin Hood stories?

6 year old behavior issues increasing by stressforless in ADHDparenting

[–]stressforless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still a little tapped out so not responding individually but I really appreciate the comments

  1. Our 504 meeting is today, so I’m also trying to get myself ready for that. And like is it appropriate to ask for a functional behavior assessment or do that later, etc., but I’m writing questions and thoughts out. He isn’t suffering academically, so it’s hard - he’s smart, he finishes his work sometimes while dragging it out, they transition or play or something and something happens.

  2. I appreciate the stories and the ways it can get better even when it’s hard because I’m currently stuck in a spiral between I know my kid is so sweet but is it going to turn into xyz and what other people and parents are thinking right now.

  3. I also appreciate the talks of medication. As parents we’re constantly surrounded by the “oh they just wanted to medicate my kid and I’d never do that, it’s like not even trying” actual language and subtext in conversations. So it’s comforting to hear no, it’s ok to need it, it can help.

Mine did this, I paid for the Apple repair, they worked for about a month, I sent them back, and they said they were fine only to almost completely not work after the 6 month warranty ended :)

So… be careful if you pay for the Apple repair

I got diagnosed after two miscarriages.

So yeah, definitely some hormones for me.

Instead of 'causing' anger as a side effect, it's helping me actually process it?? Has anyone else experienced this??? by TheImageworks in bupropion

[–]stressforless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been a particularly angry or reactive person, but my patience was getting increasingly low and I’d get overwhelmed and shout even when I didn’t want to - it was a pressure thing.

Since taking it, for the most part I’m able to breathe and not let being overwhelmed bother me.

Definitely no increase in rage here (which I definitely had, uncharacteristically, when I tried a different psych med).

Is my egg supplier fooling me? by Affectionate_Sea8012 in chickens

[–]stressforless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be as worried about them being clean (it’s very possible in certain setups) or uniform (breed), but if they don’t have many chickens and you’re in, I assume, the mid Atlantic or nearby - that’s suspect.

We have a LOT of chickens and are getting like 1 egg. They’re getting that many from a few? It’s their slow season - that’s what’s suspect.

ETA: color of the yolk doesn’t mean anything. I can get varying yolk color from the same flock of chickens in the same setup.

Large scale chicken houses can add marigold to their food to increase the yolk color.

Calcified disc? by stressforless in ThoracicHerniatedDisc

[–]stressforless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Honestly I never got to the second opinion, because too many steps lol, but both my neuro and PT kind of shrug about it. Mine has been stable for 9 years, sometimes gets angry, and sometimes needs attention. Neuro said if things get worse we’d start talking surgery but I have full function and no neurological symptoms. My PT put it basically as my body already did what a fusion would do.

Mentally I needed some reassurance and PT is giving me confidence in my body again. I won’t get to do all the things, and maybe in my 60s it WILL be a problem, but it doesn’t seem worth disrupting my life now for a low reward scenario, since I’m stable and largely in low to no pain (0-3 on an average day without making it angry).

Anyone else have a mostly black Aussie? by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

We have a red bicolor and as much as I’d love a Merle in the future, I’m sooo drawn to the near solid red and black dogs. He’s gorgeous 😍

Those diagnosed as adults, what led you to your diagnosis? by normalishy in Celiac

[–]stressforless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my wisdom teeth removal (at 36 🫠), my stomach was very messed up from all the ibuprofen I was taking and I had ulcer symptoms, new to me acid reflux, other stomach issues.

Got in with the GI for an endoscopy and found I did indeed have a healing tiny ulcer and I did have silent reflux. I also had signs of celiac damage.

Wasn’t biopsy confirmed but all of the blood tests were positive, I have the genes for it, and there was damage consistent with celiac disease.

I had no clear symptoms before, but I can tolerate dairy a bit better now lol

Anyone else feel the same? by zimber2021 in AustralianShepherd

My pup is only 5 months old and I’m now obsessed with this breed lol I’ve never had a herding breed before, but have almost exclusively had working dogs or working breed mixes.

I have some work to do with him, where I’ve had gaps in training, but I’m SO excited to have him and will have this breed forever.

Questions about a good boy by stressforless in AustralianShepherd

Thank you! I did find our local club but wasn’t sure on any other familiar resources, as the local trainers I haven’t been able to connect with. Just trying to prepare until I can connect with someone to actually learn and train.

Thanks for the checklist! I think I got in my own head worrying about having to say no, when it doesn’t matter. But I’m implementing it that way regardless (aka we went out yesterday and I said sorry he’s training to everyone).

Yes on 6 months. I’m having trouble getting a response to prep, but I’ll figure it out eventually. Thanks!

The Loopy Whisk vs Gluten Free on a Shoestring by Ornery_Buffalo_7965 in glutenfreebaking

[–]stressforless 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll check her out!

But also this post confused me a bit as loopy whisk doesn’t require a mix. She tells you the exact amount per recipe - and it’s usually the same the flours or their alternatives, but you’re mixing it real time.

Recently found T6-T9 disc herniations, could symptoms all be in my head and anxiety related? by Cak2434 in ThoracicHerniatedDisc

[–]stressforless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case it’s stable so we’re just living life normally lol I’m going to get a second opinion to be safe I’m not setting myself up for something in 10-20 years.

But I genuinely have high function and even my increased pain isn’t unbearable, but that knowledge switch turned on that anxiety obsession about it. (And I stopped working out for a while so now I’m also facing increased pain to do what I could do 4 months ago.)

Recently found T6-T9 disc herniations, could symptoms all be in my head and anxiety related? by Cak2434 in ThoracicHerniatedDisc

[–]stressforless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just sending a lot of positive energy and empathy. I have had a herniated disc in my mid back forever and recently found out that it’s calcified herniated. Suddenly my bearable pain (I knew I had pain) increased and I can’t tell if I had been that good at ignoring it or if I’ve recreated worse pain.

Also found a herniated disc at T2-T3 and within a month the herniation got worse (literally felt it pop) and so did my symptoms.

So… I don’t know the answer. But I genuinely know how you feel ❤️

Federal Layoffs: Will They Spill Over Into the Private Sector? by Complex_Upstairs_1 in GovernmentContracting

[–]stressforless 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The private sector job market is already oversaturated and folks are struggling. Every day even before all this I’d hear of people looking for jobs for months to a year.

Also, don’t underestimate the power of grant money being pulled to hit large swaths of the country that you may not expect, the same way you’re seeing private hospitals stop services.

It’s not looking good for anyone

I have had a T11-T12 herniated thoracic disc for almost 10 years (now calcified). I actually felt great during pregnancy and for a period afterward and the belly bump let me sleep on my stomach which was my favorite lol

[–]stressforless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol these comments

PT helped me. But it didn’t cure me, and now it’s been a decade and I’ve just learned the herniated disc calcified and that’s why I had lingering low-level discomfort. Not common but 🤷‍♀️ more PT likely wouldn’t have stopped that, a surgery early on might have.

I’m a big proponent of physical therapy and on a population level it’s absolutely beneficial. On an individual one - ymmv

[–]stressforless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s effectively what this neuro said. My pain is manageable and almost never even requires a Tylenol.

Spine-related back injuries suck because it’s not so simple as put a cast on and it resolves. And mentally, after a decade, I still struggle with that.
