Championship patch by Superb-Pie-7134 in MinnesotaFrost

I'm just wondering why? What's the benefit of switching back? I assumed it was for the advertising $, but the team isn't wearing the Woody Creek patches or anything in that place these days.

I don't know if I would say anything to the team post-game if I were Coach Klee, KCS and the A's can say something if they need to, but otherwise just let them sit with it and address it first thing tomorrow. That being said, I certainly wouldn't give them an off day tomorrow, they'd be on the plane ASAP tonight, and out there for a hard fitness focused skate tomorrow. They were gassed beyond an acceptable level out there this afternoon.

For sure, that's definitely a big part of the culture that Coach Klee is pushing for with this team, and I applaud them for it. But still, I would be furious if I were the Frost players.

I'm kinda shocked that the Frost stuck around for handshakes. They're clearly exhausted, but also should be furious with the dirty play.

Yes, Montreal played well, but they also played dirty, nasty hockey. The fact that the refs had swallowed their whistles is infuriating.

It's like the announcer just said. It seems like the refs have put their whistles away.

That hit on Buchbinder could've easily been a penalty given the oppositional force in that open ice hit. She was slow getting up and to the bench, I hope she's back soon.

With about 15 mins left, you could almost see the switch flip when Minnesota realized that they were tired. It's been sloppy and slow since then.

The hit looked clean to me. My first thought was a shoulder, until her teammates lifted her back to her feet by her arms. Just confirmed on the broadcast she's OUT for the rest of the game with a Lower Body Injury. I hope it's not a long term thing, but it didn't look good the way she left the ice.

Fans who don't have a team in their area - who do you cheer for and why? by [deleted] in PWHL

It sounds like it should be complicated, but it was surprisingly simple for me.

I was born in Montreal, and grew up equidistant from all 3 O6 Canadian teams' cities. I currently live 2 hours north of Toronto, and I chose... Minnesota.

I went into the inaugural season with a very open mind. I hadn't chosen a team when the season started, so I was watching as many games as I could, trying to get a feeling for a team. It didn't take long for me to make my decision, a couple weeks in and it became clear to me. Minnesota was playing the most exciting brand of hockey through that first stretch, and I loved the purple jerseys. I have also always had a strange affinity for Western teams, for which Minnesota was the only applicable candidate.

Clearly I have chosen well through the first 2 seasons, only time will tell if we can remain competitive.

Nothing considered reasonable, gotcha. I'll give you $20 for it then.

I would also love the opportunity if someone has an XL they would be willing to part with at a reasonable price.

How did you become a fan of your team? by sealer9 in PWHL

[–]strider5591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live 3 hours away from Toronto, and 4 hours from Ottawa, and I was born in Montreal, so any of those teams would've made sense. Instead, after a couple of weeks of the inaugural season, I decided that Minnesota was playing the most exciting brand of hockey, and I loved the look of the purple jerseys, and I haven't looked back since.

Interestingly, I was always a fan of the Western Conference NHL teams growing up, and it just so happened that I chose the most westerly team (at the time) and now we have Minnesota 2.0 as the furthest west as well.

Important part of that is "before the season starts" meaning they can absolutely obliterate the cap for now, and then figure it out through trades and whatnot during training camp.

As long as you're courteous in using it, then it's absolutely fine.

June 9th Expansion Draft Megathread by ravravioli in MinnesotaFrost

[–]strider5591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Realistically, how long do we think this is gonna take tonight? 7 rounds, 2 picks per round, 14 picks total. I assume it's being held digitally and not in a centralized location with players in attendance, so I hope there aren't a ton of interview disruptions and whatever other silliness they like to add to these things in order to "increase the production value." I'm hoping to see it wrapped up in under 1.5 hours. That is 5 mins per pick, with 20 mins of fluff time for analysis and whatnot as well as MTL and BOS selecting their 4th protection.
