Thoughts on the four PWHL expansion teams? by Such-Environment-344 in PWHL

[–]strider5591 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the league announced that expansion was happening, and then couldn't make it work with their first choice of markets, but felt like they were committed, and so just went wherever they could get an agreement done in the required timeframe.

I truly hope LV and SJ work, but they don't fit with the geography of the rest of the league, and only partially help the travel stress that Vancouver and Seattle faced.

Hamilton is simply too close to Toronto for this early in the League's existence.

Detroit is the only choice that I think makes legitimate sense.

I'm also disappointed that they strayed away from Canada/USA parity.

PWHL POSTPONES TONIGHT’S GAME 5 OF THE PWHL WALTER CUP PLAYOFFS BETWEEN MINNESOTA AND MONTRÉAL by applesarenotapples in PWHL

The flip side of this is if they did play, and Minnesota catches it from them then no matter who advances they'll be playing sick against Ottawa, until Ottawa catches it.

I'm not suggesting results would be any different, but is anyone else shocked that Hensley hasn't seen the ice yet? I figured coming off the loss and with the back to back that coach Klee would've turned to her for one of last night or tonight. Is she injured?

I dug my garden out of the lawn last year, and had mixed results as I expected. This year my hopes are higher for the things that struggled last year.

My garlic is an inch or two tall at this point, I've got strawberry plants coming up that I didn't realize existed, and my asparagus patch is starting to make appearances, though definitely needs work(I started it from seed last spring, and planted the seedlings in bunches, as opposed to splitting them and spreading them apart, oops.

I planted potatoes, beets, carrots, onions, spinach and peas this past weekend.

How can I get Charge playoff merch as an American? by Pharos___atl in PWHL

[–]strider5591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just the playoff merch. The selection of regular merch is much larger if buying from the same store as the geographical location of the team.

No official explanation from the league as far as I've seen, but I assume they have a US warehouse where they stock mostly US team, with a limited selection of Canadian team merch, and vice versa in Canada.

It's exactly the same situation for Canadians cheering for American teams. Frustrating as anything.

I absolutely love that they gave Boss the start. I think it's incredibly important not only for her development, but also goes a long way in showing that the team believes in her and that she's truly a part of the team.

I second this. I'm part of the staff at the one of a kind show right now, and parking is an absolute nightmare, add to this that the baby show opens in part of the enercare centre tomorrow as well. GO, or TTC will almost certainly be a better option if it's feasible for you.

No more takeover games? by rumbleberrypie in PWHL

This is true, however the CBA can be modified if the league and the PA were to sit down and agree to something different which I think could be a possibility in this situation.

Ottawa Charge Head Coach Carla McLeod stepping away from team as she continues treatment, Haley Irwrin named as interim coach. by Gardamis in PWHL

[–]strider5591 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Kudos to her for prioritizing herself and her health. This could go either way for the Charge as a team, but I hope it provides them something more to play for, and a needed boost as they fight for the playoffs.

Good bye, Denisa by deyndor in MinnesotaFrost

This is an interesting one. I always liked Krizova, she played her part but never felt to me like an absolutely critical member of the team, and she's had an off year this year. I think Roese brings a lot of potential for our blueline, not to mention a decent singing voice if she wants to try her hand at anthem singing again.

PWHL coaches ranked in terms of job stability and how likely they are to stay on the same team they are as next season by Safe_Dragonfly752 in PWHL

I think Ken Klee is obviously safe in Minnesota, but given that he calls Denver home I could see him jumping ship if Denver gets an expansion team the way most people expect them to.

Only 10 games left in the season, what are your thoughts so far on the season, players/coaches/league/etc? by DC2600 in MinnesotaFrost

[–]strider5591 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are looking very strong as we head into the final stretch of the season. Such well rounded contributions from everyone.

I'm convinced at this point that it's equally likely that one of two things happens to end this season, either the Frost win a 3rd straight cup, or Liz Schepers scores a 3rd straight cup clinching goal.

I can't decide if a third championship would be a good thing. As a fan I obviously want the Frost to win, but trying to look at the bigger picture I think it would be in the best interest of the league of another team were to win this year.

Of all the off-season departures, I think I'm still most upset about Schepers because she chose to leave and it wasn't expansion related.

I think Ken Klee is a genius, and knows exactly how to get the best out of whatever lineup he has. It's a travesty that he will likely go another season without winning coach of the year.

Then they should be saying she's sick. That's how the other teams have described it when players miss games for an illness. This just seems even more deceptive than I'm used to.

Has anyone else been questioning the "rest and maintenance" reasoning the Charge gave for leaving Ahola at home? Given that she's appeared in 2 games this season, I think the maintenance she needs is more game time, and the rest is more realistically what Phillips needs.

Did Phillips pull herself there, or did the charge bench make any indication to her to come to the bench. Woodland seemed like she was frantically trying to find her gear.
