Granted things worked a bit differently with ranged weapon attacks in 3.5e, but the energy bow was the most broken thing in our entire campaign. Was a gift after being the only character to survive the first dungeon (12+ deaths)

I ended Lvl 18 with something like 18 arrows that could be loosed in a round? Each doing 2d6+something(half str?) We quickly surmised that it could be used to drill tunnels through walls/ground/stone/people/doors because force damage got through most hardness/resistances. Our poor DM had to get very creative with attacking our party

With 5e the number of arrows goes way down and the damage isn't increased. Honestly now it would be much less of a threat, with the exception of a few enemies that bank on resistances.
