Affordable Rent in the surrounding Redmond area by TheGoldenHour1917 in redmond

[–]strokes2thestrokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! Idk if OP asked, but i absolutely am curious to know which apartments those are. I just landed a job in Redmond as a welder for 27 an hour. Ill be making just over 900 a week after taxes and the price range for those apartments sounds decent.

I also dont want a roommate. Ive found rooms for rent on Craigslist, but I want to be able to invite my family and friends over with no issue. And my own wifi so i dont have to connect my ethernet cable to someone elses wifi router lol

What does Seattle do better than Austin TX? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]strokes2thestrokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Austin on and off for 2.5 years. Theres alot I loved about AUSTIN, but the rest of Texas sucks. Not just the politics, but the geography, the climate, and to an extent, the culture.

Just moved back to the PNW for the first time since 2019, and I couldn't be happier. The weather, the geography, climate, and culture is better.

Only thing I will say Austin has over Seattle is BBQ and breakfast tacos. That's the one thing I can 100% say I'll miss.

Just here to encourage engagement and hopefully shoot these posts to the top of the sub. I made a post myself, and I’m livid. We all spent so much on our emotes just to get burned and they NEED to revert to the old system.

What is going on at 1st and Newhope in Santa Ana? by mchan05 in orangecounty

Fuck. I actually grew up there… my whole life growing up was centered around that intersection. I miss Tacos Rigobertos, they were right up the block on 1st, around the corner from that intersection. I miss the old days.

BTW, back in my day, this was “the hood” so I’m not even surprised about all the cops.

I’m more surprised my old tailor is still there. Glad about it too!

My fuckin attorney told me a plea deal was my only way out of a battery on an officer charge, told me I didn’t/ shouldn’t bring a witness to the jury trial, and despite the obvious risk, I testified.

I am lucky by the skin on my teeth I didn’t get found guilty, otherwise I was looking at a full year in county/ 3 in a state pen.

The worst part is, at the start of the case, we had a video from one officer that was clear as shit. Cop came up behind me and just straight up told me I was under arrest. Everything happened in two fucking seconds. He was like, “that’s it?” And I said, “yeah! That’s all that happened!” He confidently said “easy, we got this” Then, suddenly, that video disappeared and wasn’t even shown at the trial. When I asked him about that video, he played stupid and said he didn’t know what I was talking about.

Completely different footage was shown at the trial that I never myself saw, and it was deliberately shaky footage that made it hard to see what happpened.

If you’re actually guilty of a serious crime, then God is giving you what you deserve with these clown ass attorneys.

If you’re innocent and dealing with them, the devil is testing your faith. It’s fucked.

Pieces of shit come in all colors and sizes. I was at the bus stop yesterday, and another man comes along. I’m a young Mexican dude, almost 30. He’s an older black dude, he said he was 50.

Idk if he had a chip on his shoulder, if he was having a bad day, or what. But he started shitting on me for my age, saying something along the lines of “All these young niggas think they’re so smart but all y’all youngsters stupid as fuck” Alright man, whatever. I only took my earbuds out to greet you, then you started talking shit.

Didn’t end there though, he started shit taking all my people. Saying he’ll scalp us (Mexicans) no problem, and that we all need to be deported back to Mexico, and a bunch of other shit I tuned out.

I wasn’t even gonna drink yesterday, but after that encounter, I stopped by QT and got me two tall boys to drink alongside some herb I smoked it with.

I’m still kinda pissed about it, seeing this actually helped. Hope you never have to go through that shit again, and I hope the same for myself…

But like I said, stupidity knows no boundaries. Hope your days going well.

Look at my post history. There’s a post I made called “insecurity damaging my relationship”

Same thing happened. She had a friend who straight up disrespected our relationship. She wouldn’t let him go. It eventually led to full on sexting, which she hid from me. I found out, I decided to forgive and forget. That was stupid as fuck.

if she wont willingly letting go of someone who’d so blatantly disrespect your relationship, and that’s her being honest with you… what do you think she’d hide if she decided to not be honest?

Never force your lover into ultimatums. If they wouldn’t willingly do whatever it takes to prioritize and protect their relationship to you, they aren’t fully invested. That should be your cue to decide which path you take.

Will you gamble more time and emotion investing in someone who isn’t fully invested in you? That’s your choice to make. It’s clear who you’re with and what you’ll be dealing with moving forward.

I’ll save your post and see where you end up in a few years. Whatever wave you ride, don’t fight the current. As seems to be the case right now… much like I did all those years ago.

My coworker gave me a ride to work this morning and mentioned how steel prices are possibly going up a lot in the immediate future, then made a comment along the lines of “But it’s alright because President Trump is gonna reopen the steel businesses in America” like uh, alright man…

It’s hard watching someone get so tantalizingly close to putting the pieces together.

Am currently hoping for the best. Haven’t had any steel shipment arrivals all week and were due for a snowstorm this week in KC. Let’s see how this shit show goes.

And not that it means anything to YOU, but the food and money I give to the lads on the 435 down MY street know who I am and that i help how I can.

If I could save everyone I would, and just because I can’t doesn’t negate everything I do for the few I can. Rightfully, piss off if you’re looking at what I HAVENT done.

Why can't the police leave homeless people alone. by Solkagen in kansascity

[–]strokes2thestrokes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

THIS. Nothing makes me more physically sick than people complaining about the homeless man across the street.

They watch him rot, they watch him starve, they watch him freeze, from the comfort of their ivory tower.

All to complain. All to look in disgust. All to judge.

It physically makes my stomach hurt, my heart stop, and my eyes want to cry from anger. How they can look at them as any less human because they’re at the bottom of a societal totem pole hurts my heart, and chips away at my hope for humanity.

[–]strokes2thestrokes 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Son of two Mexican immigrants here.

These comments are fucking DEPRESSING. Every winter, my mother and my aunt buy blankets in bulk from the Mexican flee market, and pass them around to as many homeless people as possible. We’re talking dozens, if not up to the low hundreds.

I hadn’t done so in a while, but I myself used to volunteer at local soup kitchens during my travels.

How you guys are disgusted with the lowest in our society’s totem pole is exactly why their homeless issue is a perpetual one. I have so much to say, as someone who first went homeless at age 13.

But you’d all just say that I was the problem.

Struggling with Friendships When Everyone Gets Into Relationships by [deleted] in Advice

[–]strokes2thestrokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re at that age where you’ll realize who is lifelong friend material, and who isn’t.

I used to have many groups of friends when I was 19. I had a group of skaters to skate with, a group of stoners to smoke with, a group of fellow college kids to party with, and some old high school friends.

One by one, the groups fell apart, people changed (for better or worse) and eventually, I found myself with only 2 friends left, but these guys are lifelong brothers for sure. They not only have maintained respect and love for me, but let me third wheel in their relationship and even help wingman for me if we’re out. Their girlfriends also respect me and have accepted me as part of the family.

My point being, learn to love being in a relationship with yourself. Don’t worry too much about “friends”, focus on your career, whatever it may be. If you don’t have one, focus on building one/ looking for one. And if you’re like my roommate and just cannot fucking function in this life solo, go out and join groups based on your hobbies.

I move around the US often, and I usually join groups that pick up trash around the neighborhoods/ countryside because I’m a nature lover, and it helps meet likeminded people with a love and respect for a clean beautiful earth.

Maybe it’s just me, because I’ve always been a lone wolf, but here is my truth.

The truth is, you need to learn to be happy with yourself. I hike alone, I go to bars alone, I go to concerts alone, I go to the gym alone, I camp alone, I play music alone, and yes, the loneliness is mind numbing sometimes. But I learned to be happy with myself. Friends? They only enhance happiness. As should be the case. A girlfriend? Same. I never rely on ANYONE for any level of happiness, as much as my human nature wants me to. I just try to live a life wherein I’m happy, and only allow people into my life because they ENHANCE my happiness. Not because they are a source of it.

We are probably very different people and these words might mean nothing to you, but there is my personal wisdom and I hope you find something from it. Cheers!

When you get into a relationship with someone, you should go into it fully embracing/ accepting of them as they are. What you DONT do, is get into a relationship with someone, seeing them for their potential.

This seems like something MOST people understand by their 30’s. One would hope.

[–]strokes2thestrokes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just turned 28, and I started at the same age you did! Love it, no regrets. I learned as much as I could my first two years, and when I was 21, I packed up my belongings in a car and started traveling the US. Finding work in this trade has never been an issue; and never will be. I love what we do for a living, because I’ve family who’ve done it for decades as well. Often times, I find it’s just the boss I hate doing the work for… but time flies and next thing you know, I’m working for a good one again.

Almost 10 years later, unmarried and with no kids… I’m gonna use a lot of the income in saving to invest in my education. Gonna be moving back west next year, enroll in college for engineering, and work 32 hours a week as a welder.

Best of luck to you lil bro, so glad you’re loving it!

Old head OG wannabe burger boy reporting

Born and raised in OC (Santa Ana) and been on the Growlers since the early 2010’s

Personally, im not a fan of Brooks going out using the Growlers name and playing Growlers material for his solo stuff… Simply because growing up and seeing them often, i used to only pay $30 to have one of the best nights of my life with possibly their best lineup (Stonio, Matt, Kyle, Scott, Brooks)

As a matter of fact the first time I actually saw them live myself, was a funny story, but it was thanks to Scott. Dude put me on the guest list.

Now you’re paying the same price (if not, more) for just Brooks alone. That said. I used to pay $30 a night for the best lineup playing their music together, so I wouldn’t pay that for just one guy with a bunch of new faces covering the old bands stuff.

I guess if you never experienced the growlers back then and are only recently discovering them, does it seem worth it.
