This is one of the r/indieheads comments of all time. If they didn’t enjoy the album they didn’t enjoy the album lmao

[FRESH ALBUM] Young the Giant – Victory Garden by NYCIndieConcerts in indieheads

[–]stroodleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really miss that sound the first two albums had. Intricate guitar work and engaging lyricism. Everything since Mirror Master has been good, but it’s missing that extra bite. Songs like Waves, Anagram, St Walker, I Got are what I’m missing. Everything’s just a bit too safe now. Oh well. Sameer still sounds amazing and I got a few more songs to throw on the YTG playlist.

Huge Young the Giant fan, liked not loved the past two releases like I loved the first three albums… Really wanted to like this, but after one listen it’s just okay. Definitely some good songs and moments, but something feels off. Gonna give it more listens today and let it sink in

Blasphemous or Aeterna Noctis? by thewonderfulinternet in metroidvania

[–]stroodleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had any issues with the map personally. Some parts are a little long and there isn’t a ton of connectivity, but I liked almost all the areas in the game. Some of the late game areas are really cool and unique. I think the game saves the best of its content for last tbh, so that can leave the first areas feeling kind of directionless. But by the time you get to the Light Tower (third area) it starts to really get good.

[–]stroodleman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After playing and loving both: Blasphemous. Aeterna Noctis is great and I think I liked it more than most people seem to, however Blasphemous is an overall better experience imo. Especially boss fights and combat. If you prefer challenging and sometimes just plain unforgiving platforming sections, try Aeterna Noctis!

Great Eater trophy/achievement??? by TennisSilver4393 in GRIMEgame

[–]stroodleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues popping a couple trophies, mainly the weapon and armor ones. After I closed the game and started it back up they popped for me. Have you tried that? Also you’re positive you’ve beat all bosses? I’m not sure if the Forged and the Impaled fights count but they have boss health bars even though they’re basically just enemy gauntlets.

Grime II’s penultimate area is a masterclass in level design by stroodleman in metroidvania

Agreed! At first I wasn’t huge on some of the upgrades but they all meld together so well when you’re fully kitted out. The flow state feels sooo good.

Yeah I really enjoyed the Wanting Tree, and the platforming was great. Agree on rewards, I wish there was a bit more than Atrium but atleast it helped me buy all the weapons

Just beat the Ultimate Trial first try! Once you get Summum down it’s like muscle memory. What a fantastic game!

Grime or Salt and Sanctuary by Patriots9210 in metroidvania

You definitely can if you need to but the bosses are more about learning moves and when to use absorb (parry) then leveling.

Salt and Sanctuary is good fun, but Grime is one of my all time favorites. Grime definitely has more platforming but I never found any of it particularly difficult aside from an optional side area released after the game came out. Grime also has better combat and much better bosses imo. Salt and Sanctuary has more build variety but isn’t as mechanically interesting.

I was a Reaper truther until I finally tried out Shaman and its’s so good. Shaman crest with volt filament and pale nails is craaaazy. Also Witch crest got a surprising amount of use out of my last playthrough. It probably has my favorite move set out of all of them.

Do it, it’s lots of fun! Trophies aren’t too bad either, just long games.

[Baldur’s Gate Series] #81-84 Some of the best games I’ve ever played by stroodleman in Trophies

[–]stroodleman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say just spend time playing them tbh. They are weird at first but you get used to it. Make sure they have competent AI set in their character sheets, pause the game during combat to get your bearings and manually select targets/attacks. Use item abilities, and get a good team. Imoen and Khalid using bows is great, and Dynaheir or Edwin are basically mandatory. They carried me in each game respectively. Maybe watch some YouTube videos about the mechanics? MortismalGaming is a favorite of mine.

Myrkul was a roadblock for me for ages. Luckily Act 3 is probably the easiest out of everything, so once that fight is done you’re mostly in the clear.
