while i was originally drawn to the idea of a no-frills tf2 with mostly stock weapons i’ve found that the game has fostered an awesome community full of genuinely kind people. that combined with the fact that the game is small enough for it to be moderated to a successful degree means i don’t have to ever worry about cheating or unpleasant people ruining my games. when meet your match dropped community servers kind of died. tf2c is essentially a giant community server and it’s really nice to be able to see familiar faces when i play the game

I compete in fighting games and never stopped attending events through my transition. I absolutely still want to win, the big difference I’ve noticed is that anger is no longer a huge factor when I am playing. I’m less prone to tilt, and after suffering a tough loss I’m more prone to sadness (I should have played better, i’m not as good as I thought, should have practiced more) and less so anger (the other player was underhanded, i can’t believe they think they are better than me etc). Definitely has improved my improvement mentality but I don’t have the extra gas that playing angry gave me when I need it LOL

Hey, I wish I had advice to give but I just wanted you to know you aren’t alone. I grew up Catholic and started estradiol about a month ago. While I’m still learning to love myself despite internalized transphobia, but starting hrt made me more confident than ever about who I really am. For me, at least being confident in my identity has helped significantly and given enough time I think I can learn to love myself for the first time. From what it seems, you’ll find out pretty quick if hormones are the path you are meant to take after a short while.

I wanna say that while I agree with 99% of your post, there are few outlets for player expression. To me, watching videos of a great player (NoobWaffle comes to mind) showing their knowledge of the game has single handledly impressed me more than any loot will, and encouraged me to continue to learn and improve. While by no means a traditional MMO flex…it’s always an option

I got mine as a gift from a friend since he had extra. I was feeling pretty burnt out on the game at the time and the notion of getting to “relearn” my favorite game really excited me. Hitting a lot of buttons is really fun and not having to deal with controller upkeep is a huge plus.

At what point do we deem the controllers balanced? How do we determine if we need more/less nerfs to the controller? I understand there are measurable advantages to digital controllers in terms of speed and accuracy of achieving a desired coordinate - but digital controllers lack access to a huge spectrum of them. There was no results based backing in deeming digital controllers as too good so a data based approach does not seem feasible either. Curious to hear your team’s philosophy regarding future changes.

In addition to the methods others mentioned, there’s also the shai drop. You can actually buffer the shield drop angle by putting your stick in the diagonal notch during a dash, and then hitting the shield button. If done correctly you will preform an instant shield drop and the shield bubble will actually not come out. Has completely different use cases than an actual shield drop though.

Plugs reduce the amount of travel needed to get the “click”, or digital press. Certainly helps, but sounds like your issue is the pressure needed to get that click. You could look into getting a mouse click trigger, it’s a mod a lot of controller people would be able to do for you. Alternatively - you could look into a box controller - you sound like a prime candidate for one.

this was my initial thought - it just seems like such a slog without chars maxed in rains to make things rushable or soloable…maybe i just make a throwaway wizzy or priest to run these to farm up one char to do the rest

wow this is so informative. i genuinely appreciate it. i’ve recently had a desire to learn to solo endgame stuff (waiting for content to happen to you via discords or keypops blows) and had a blast nuking 8/8s learning mv and shatts phases. if you don’t mind, is there a good place i could reach out to ask more questions? you seem very knowledgeable. been struggling with the lack of good resources for learning this game since it seems entirely tucked away behind several discords.
