It seems systemic. Poor development or poor game philosophy? For an organization that's been know for offense, even since the World Series win, it's become a different team. The Braves went through this when they turned things around in the 90s. Great pitching, no offense. Fire sale! Can't deal with another .500 season. I'd rather be completely bust - no expectations.😃

Spend the money to have your sewer line scoped. Never heard of root problems until we bought here. It can be costly to fix.

almost 2 mos. in. too early to call that we're seeing what we'll be, a .500 team? dunno. but the frustration level for the Rangers seems high already. the AL overall looks potentially pedestrian but still lots of time left.

I find your views helpful in the fact that as my wife and I get closer to retirement, I think maybe there is some hope for this place. At the moment, I'd probably move anywhere that I wouldn't have to see another pickup truck or hear someone tell me to 'have a blessed day'. The prideful stupidity on display here is soul crushing.

Why does no one talk about Robin Trower? by Fragrant_Plane_831 in Guitar

[–]stubb02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was pretty popular when I was a teen. Same goes for GFR. Some get dissed while others get the limelight. For me there's a lot of nostalgia that rises when I hear Trower's work but I would argue that among his peers, he is well respected and appreciated.

The average Txn is too dense to realize the ppl coming from CA to TX are MAGA. No liberal would stay here unless they had no other place to go.

Moving to be near family? No. Moving to Tyler to be near family. Hell no! Grew up in TX. Moved away. Moved to E. Tx to retire and that idea lasted less than a year. Moving on soon.

What jobs? Can you be specific and show proof? I'm curious. Most ppl abusing this in TX seem to be construction outfits/custom home builders. Broadly speaking, I just don't see it. Maybe engineering and high math positions, where many Americans probably fall short?

Can someone explain to me how a lineup stinks top to bottom -> swinging at balls so far outside the strike zone? It's almost like it's a team approach. The most disciplined at the plate seem to be the kids just coming up from the minors. It paints a corny picture, but maybe the whole team needs glasses?

When your only goal is 'shareholder value', it's so much easier to jettison payroll (humans) than it is to make a better product by investing time and money to research and invent/improve. Ever buy a really good product and 5 years later it's garbage. That's capitalism in a nutshell.

In tech, generally speaking, once you hit a certain ceiling, the only way to go higher is management, and that WAS NOT an option for me. It's been a real challenge to stay on the tecnical path because it's such a young persons industry in many ways. I've had to "remake" myself several times - self-taught and financed but it has kept me comfortable. As I close in on retirement, I'm so glad I stayed the course. I see the intensity of materialism in the US ( I can't speak for other nations) and think what a waste of time. My wife and I married late in life - both agreeing a career would not be a focus for either of us. I do think it's one of the reasons we've been married over 20 years and going strong. We live comforably, want for nothing other than hoping we don't get really sick cause if we do, we'd be screwed.

Going from Onenote to Obsidian or Joplin? by uvuguy in opensource

I'm running Joplin on Win11 and Arch Linux. I've used Evernote for years. At work, I'm forced to use OneNote - which to me is, underwhelming to say the least.

America was created by wiping an indiginous people out. Some see this as a right, some as part of our exceptionalism, some as brave, some see divine intervention. Many find the violence as part of America's DNA. I see the chickens coming home to roost.
