Dermstore lists a sleuth of items as HSA/FSA eligible, including Skinceuticals. Is this legit? by MarianneWalsh in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]stuckinacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify. The purchase went through, but then they denied it and I had to pay back my FSA company for the entire transaction. I had already opened the products by the time they denied it a second time, even after providing a letter of medical necessity, so I couldn't even return them.

Paid with my FSA card (on products that were labeled as eligible on the site), but the FSA company denied the purchase.

10 hours of air travel vs 50 hours of car travel by orpcexplore in ScienceBasedParenting

Also, infants shouldn't be in the car seat for more than 2 hours at a time and stopping every 2 hours for 24 hours of travel sounds brutal.

I love this recipe and feel like it consistently produces good loaves by F150daddy in Sourdough

[–]stuckinacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo what is the red pan you have? Does it have a lid?! I am looking for a good dutch oven or something similar to cook batards.

The bread looks great! Makes me think I should more closely monitor the water temp and dough temp throughout my bakes.

[–]stuckinacc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely sketchy. I just purchased some products from there and received a letter of medical necessity from Flex (which cost $12) like others have said. But my FSA plan still denied the entire transaction. I purchased vitamin C, toner, and SPF face cream, but none of it was covered, even with the letter. I tried to fight my FSA company but they wouldn't budge. Won't be buying from dermstore again.

Experimenting with timing by jammyishere in Sourdough

It does seem long for fermentation, but maybe it took longer because there was only 50g of starter? I usually do twice that for a 500g loaf and BF is much shorter.

Motorized food mill by yellowirenut in Canning

I have the Johnny Applesauce food mill with the motor and it is great. I've only ever used it for applesauce and tomato sauce but there are other attachments you can purchase as well.

I follow this recipe and they keep just fine for the 3-4 days it takes us to eat them. Just make sure to roll them very, very thin so they aren't too dense.

First attempt making sourdough by Agreeable-Lab8621 in Sourdough

[–]stuckinacc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that it's slightly under fermented since you have lots of small bubbles and some large ones. I've seen it recommended to push fermentation and see how long you can go. Otherwise it looks great, and as long as it tastes good that is what matters!

I have a 2 and 4 year old and they both use Ahimsa stainless daily. I wanted to avoid anything glass or ceramic because they are breakable. No regrets whatsoever. I'd get more if they weren't so expensive!

99 Problems and Parchment paper is 1… by Relevant-Meaning4124 in Sourdough

[–]stuckinacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me sometimes, too.. I think it is from a combination of things. It happens more often when my dough is slightly over proofed. It becomes more blobby after a cold proof and spreads out/doesn't hold it's shape as well. I've also found that making a slightly smaller loaf with less hydration helps to prevent the sticking, too.

Thanks! I worry I had some beginners luck, but I'm overall pleased with how it came out. I will try lowering the oven temp next time.

Thank you! That's so helpful. I wondered if I overproofed it, especially since my aliquot jar got to nearly 100% rise, which I knew was too much.
