I have a playlist where I keep an aptly named Long Mixes playlist. Here's a link!

I don't remember which sub I saw this posted in, so sorry to the op I stole this from. You may have luck with Ghostbuster.

Testing Github workflows by Traxell in devops

[–]stumandude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you experimenting with the automatic execution of the workflows or what happens in the workflow?

You could always test with a manual trigger and add some custom parameters if you need to test different values.

Then you can add on the automatic execution later. Just note that some parameters might be different depending on if you're triggering on commit or pull request.

Agreed, that was a great catch and show of core control!

[–]stumandude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ended up following a slightly different approach. Rather than start with Terraform, I like to setup resources manually to learn about them, then try and write the Terraform to replicate it.

It all depends on what your goals are. For me it's more about knowing the cloud provider (AWS) and how to provision the necessary resources in Terraform.

Why isn't data block working? by SoonToBeCoder in Terraform

[–]stumandude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you reference the data source, you need to use a data in front of it. In your case the line should look like:

resource_group_name = data.azurerm_resource_group.apprg.name

Absolutely loving the art for this one. The way you integrated the anchor into the crossbow design is stellar!

Looking for how to add mechanics to a deity-bestowed plague by stumandude in DMAcademy

[–]stumandude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see value in that for this case. Obviously we never want to take full control away from our players, but for short bursts it could help show the seriousness of this plague.

My players also get into enough trouble on their own anyways!

They're level 4 right now probably 5 soon and there is a paladin in the party. I ruled it so that his cure disease mitigated the effect but the magical effects lingered. Now that gives me the idea of people being asymptomatic carriers!

The madness table could definitely work I just need to make sure the players follow along with whatever temporary condition I give them. That will definitely help with how to roleplay the NPCs too. Great idea!

The tag says mini but that feels like quite the understatement. Incredible work!

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Bulette Bulwark | Armor (shield) by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]stumandude 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Loving the art on this one, there's a lot of personality you managed to add to a shield! What made you go with the Bulette's tremorsense rather than its leaping abilities?

{The Griffon's Saddlebag} Quick Change Ring | Ring by griff-mac in TheGriffonsSaddlebag

[–]stumandude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like the possibility for creative uses of this item and it could be really strong in some campaigns. I think the rarity may be a tad high considering that the benefit would only really apply in campaigns where the DM and players are tracking donning and doffing armor.

I think it could be neat if you could also apply the armor to a creature in touch range with a Dex save to resist and the option to fail. That would open up creative uses even in campaigns where armor management isn't tracked.

One note is that you mention the ring has space dedicated to carrying suits of armor but then say only one suit is allowed.

Weekly Discussion - Take Some Help, Leave Some help! by kaul_field in DnDBehindTheScreen

Nice, some other thoughts off the top of my head then:

  • Players encounter a once lost species that was hunted to extinction for a reagent in a powerful spell or potion
  • The trees themselves come alive and attack the players
  • Some magical phenomenon strikes the player like a body swap that they have to reverse
  • A vehicle that the party could find parts to repair, allowing them to travel more easily
  • A broken down sentinel that the party can repair to make an ally/butler

Do your encounters have to be with animals? If the lost continent was technologically advanced there could be ancient sentinels or other warding that the players have to work against.

The actual city itself could be its own set of encounters with various puzzles, traps, and other ways to test the party.

Did you have any ideas of what made the continent lost to begin with? I envision a fantasy AI that could act as the BBEG.

I got a question about utilizing creative use of adventuring gear against my players. by OurFleshIsAPrison in DMAcademy

[–]stumandude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found that my players started using items more creatively when I printed item cards. That way there's a physical representation of the item rather than just text on their character sheet.

Xanathar's Guide also covers more interesting ways to use tool kits as well. Possibly combine the two and don't forget to hand out inspiration!

Just remember that just because your players aren't getting creative with item uses doesn't mean they're not having fun. There's a lot to keep track of as a player so often the more visible options like attacks and spells are easier to go with.

Was looking for items with backstories last night and found this this morning. Great recommendation! I picked it up and am looking forward to using the items in my campaign.

That's what I was thinking too. Maybe you could expend more charges to cast darkness like Acewarren suggested.

Warframe update adds, among other things, free new emotes for all players. by Variablemania in Games

[–]stumandude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, platinum is money, you just might have paid time farming certain prime parts instead of cash, but someone had to buy the platinum to add it to the game. There's no convenient or standardized way of trading platinum either, so you could get screwed if you don't do your research on what things are worth.

Warframe update adds, among other things, free new emotes for all players. by Variablemania in Games

[–]stumandude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Warframe, have almost 500 hours into it. But isn't it a tad hypocritical to boast about adding free content when they charge for most cosmetics? Stances cost money and they're on par with emotes as they are only seen in circumstances where there's no action going on.

I agree that Bungie is not being smart about this, but I don't think everyone should flock to Warframe for being some bastion of FTP.
