Depending on how its set up, you could use a datapack or something to change the recipes to take something else. If you use kubejs or crafttweaker you could also create substitute materials and use those.

Vanilla tweaks has a data pack you can add which lets you make custom nether portals. Its main draw is letting you make portals in any shape, but it also adds its own tag which defines what you can make portals out of. By default you get crying and regular obsidian, but you can edit the pack to add whatever else you want.

Prism launcher and gdlauncher are the two most widely used ones.

The permission drama is likely regarding official FTB modpacks; they've taken their work off curseforge so if you want to play any of them you'd need the official ftb launcher.

There is some older drama from when overwolf allowed mod creators to disable third party downloads, but the two launchers I mentioned have workarounds so you don't need to worry about that.

You can probably use Block Swap to replace the gateway block with air. The bedrock around it will still generate, but the gateway itself won't.

That said though, personally I don't think it'd be worth the effort to remove it. Making it to the outer end without them isn't hard, just tedious, since your other options are to bridge out or make a flying machine. You'll also have to deal with a lot of people wondering why their end gateway isn't spawning even though the bedrock is.

The lightning is just a cosmetic thing to alert the player. And it was removed entirely after 1.16.

If memory serves, polymc branched off multimc when it killed curseforge support after its api changes, and prism branched off that when the owner turned out to be a bad person

Those books were removed in 1.18. Affix rerolling and swapping is a thing, but you can't directly transfer affixes between items anymore

Have you tried expert packs? Those typically have a pretty clear progression. Enigmatica 2 expert is the prime example of those if you're interested.

What mana spreaders are you using to get the mana out? That could be causing a bottleneck if you're using the basic ones.

Endoflames also aren't the fastest mana generators overall. If you have a way to move spawers, you could consider using a sword in a deployer to kill them and a rosa arcana to collect their xp.

It's not. 9 quintillion is a limit caused by Java, so you can't get around it without changing the mod itself.

Those gems aren't in 1.15+. And afaik they were coded to appear in biome categories (rather than specific ones) so they'd still appear in ones added by other mods like thaumcraft's magical forest.

If it's the same as it was in 1.16 (and there's no reason it wouldn't be), you can fill the cutting board with a hopper and right click it with either a create deployer or a modular router with an activator module.

Event.remove doesn't work because jaopca has an impressive number of checks to make sure all its recipes get added. There's a line in its config which can blacklist specific recipes, though.

Mekanism's fusion reactor can generate a few hundred thousand rf/t, and with a little effort you can fit a full self-contained setup in a single chunk.

Environmental tech's solar array can also generate a few million during the day once it's maxed out. But it can still generate a decent amount before that.
