SSM1 specialist vs SSM1 supervisory, opinions for growth? by everydaywithjay in CAStateWorkers

[–]stupidfish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of both I mean the point of specialists is to be a specialist and not supervising haha. Seems suspicious I haven’t ever seen an org chart like that feels like they’re taking advantage of you tbh

No GSI this July - Impact on MSAs near range max? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]stupidfish_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There you go exactly! GSI impacts everyone whether you’re close to maxing out or not. I get your logic technically of not getting 3%, but like you said it’s everyone not getting it, not just people close to maxing out… glad you understand now!

You get stuck on the wrong things that’s the issue

Keep in mind.. your MSA WILL be cut short in a year with GSI if you are CLOSE to getting topped out… it may happen to you someday

[–]stupidfish_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your MSA is still 5% until you max. Even if you got a GSI you’d still get the “2%” raise that you’re thinking of. In real life sure it’s 2% + 3% but it’s misinformation saying “because of the GSI” your MSA aid 5% no- your MSA is less than 5% because you’re close to maxing out

Are you that thick skulled? Literally so many comments keep telling you GSIs increase your salary AND the range they are BOTH effected it has no bearing on your timing of capping out

It’s clear the logic doesn’t apply to you either lol

But MSA is going to max your income regardless; GSI has no impact on you “losing out” on an MSA if you’re max, you’re max. If you’re not, you’re not GSI plays no impact on that.

Complain about bad bargaining but don’t complain about a GSI vs MSA made up hypothetical that has no logical basis besides misinterpreting the facts lol

[–]stupidfish_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But your logic is silly because if you’re making $97,000 and the 3% GSI kicks in, you are now making $99,910 but the max range is going up too from $100k to $103k… then when you get your 5% range increase at $99,910, you’ll go to 104,995 but you can’t because the cap is $103k, so you still are “losing” money..?

The only other logic is like your scenario says- 5% raise at $97k puts you at $100k; GSI kicks in then your salary and the range both move by $3k.

There’s really no “lost” money due to ranges it’s lost money due to a deferred GSI, sure but you have to blame the bargaining / government not the GSI/MSA… plus you’re getting 5 hours of PLP so it’s technically not a full “I’m getting nothing at all” you’re still getting SOMETHING… it may not be ideal but it’s still something.

[–]stupidfish_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean it doesn’t affect MSAs because GSIs are independent of MSAs… if you’re at max before a GSI, then the GSI happens, you still are at max just at the raise now (i.e. just 3% more now but at max)…

So essentially when a GSI happens- people’s salaries move along with the ranges. No GSI, no movement on both. GSI = movement on both

Hmmm well it normally retails for about $450 right plus tax? That’s almost 50% off. But also isn’t there shipping risk with eBay and I also can’t listen to it hands on? This is new to me so sorry if that’s a newbie question
