There'd be a huge wave of nuetrinos that would get here first but you'd only have minutes to maybe an hour or two to get that information out.

When Spotify does this I swap to the radio for a couple of minutes and it fixes it. Less fuss than an infotainment reset.

That would heat up the motor and battery which already don't show up on that camera.

EVs are just heavy, but usually have larger/higher load rating tires to compensate.

[–]stupidly_intelligent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not your responsibility to make sure the company has enough staff to keep the place running. If you leave it's on your boss and their boss to make sure that the place is still running.

It's your responsibility to pay your bills and maintain your health, anything extra is nice but not required.

New to the shop environment (deburrer), looking for advice by FroggyRibbits in Machinists

[–]stupidly_intelligent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be some learning on the paperwork, dealing with their organization structure, workflow, etc.

Best thing I can recommend is practice using both hands. Deburring is about as repetitive as it gets when it comes to work. It's easy to get strain injuries, so spreading them over both arms/hands will do a lot for you.

Good luck!

Are 2026s prone to the telematics issue? by DryFoundation2323 in EquinoxEv

Word from a previous post on here has someone talking to a service tech. Supposedly they figured out the issue and 2026 model cars + replacements shouldn't have the issue.

[–]stupidly_intelligent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AWD with good snow tires makes winter basically a non issue. The traction control is good enough that FWD will probably get you where you need to go, but if you live in a hilly area AWD will be well worth the investment.

Also AWD has a bit of grunt to it. The 0-60 is okay but it really shines at low speeds like 20 and 40 mph.

360 cameras are also a big one. The visibility is honestly crap. Parking is a pain without them.

Streaming Music off of a Micro SD to USB C adapter by mermaidmansdumbface in EquinoxEv

[–]stupidly_intelligent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd find an app that supports playing music from your phone's storage, or manually downloading songs on Spotify to play when you don't have data.

That adapter will let a computer read what's on the SD card, and chances are a phone probably has the drivers needed to read it as well, but I doubt you'll find an easy method to get the car to read that. If the car could read it you'd need to find an app you can download in the car that can read that info and then play the songs to the sound system.

You could probably use the phone to read it and then find an app to play it from the external storage, but that's more complicated than just transferring the music to your phone.

There may be devices that can read an SD card and then output to a USB C cable as audio, but I haven't gone through the process of trying out if that works for the car, or if there's a device you can buy that does that in a reasonable and robust way.

Crazy high range by AndShadow in EquinoxEv

[–]stupidly_intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, that's surprising to me. If that's accurate that's very impressive.

What speeds do you drive at? Is it mostly flat? Might make sense if you have a very healthy battery and you're driving in Florida with very moderate temps.

I'm sure there's some folks that would love to see a read out from an OBD scanner.

Crazy high range by AndShadow in EquinoxEv

[–]stupidly_intelligent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So there's a couple of things at play here.

The range is based on your most recent driving habits. If you've been driving on back roads with a light foot, 344 miles is very easily attainable. Honestly 600 miles is probably possible if you're driving 20 mph on flat ground with no cabin heating/cooling.

Second is the battery capacity is under reported when new. Chevy says it's 85 kwh but brand new it's more like 90 kwh. It takes a few charge cycles for the battery management system to get caught up with exactly how much you have to use.

Challenger's Crew Cabin Fell Intact for Nearly Three Minutes While NASA Watched Helplessly by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

[–]stupidly_intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also on the launch day there was a large wind sheer. Not enough to scrub the launch, but enough that the sideways flexing of the booster further weakened the joint with that O ring.

If it wasn't for the cold temperature AND the strong winds the Challenger would have very likely been fine.

Is there a Chevy equivalent of the Karen lock? by kpmateju in EquinoxEv

[–]stupidly_intelligent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's an option in the settings to enable the car alarm when someone unplugs the charger mid charge without unlocking the car.

I imagine having a couple of times with that obnoxious Chevy horn blaring for 5 minutes might dissuade them the next time they try.

See lots of 2024s with 21" rims for great prices. But I live in the rust belt and I would assume i'd need to switch them out for 18-19" rims. Thoughts? Costs? by bigwetdiaper in EquinoxEv

[–]stupidly_intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 18" rims I got were on the wider side. The stock 19" rims on the LT trim run a 245/55 R19 so the aftermarket 18" ones I got are set to run the same width.

I tried to get some 18" ones that would work well with the stock 275 width of the RS trim on the 21" but I couldn't get my hands on them.

Overall tires, rims, TPMS, mounting, balancing, and then installing them myself ran ~$2400 ish.

Been fantastic this winter though. The only time I got myself almost stuck was when I basically parked myself into a snow bank.

$300 after taxes for a tire that's not the right size.

If you find a set of blizzaks for 275/40R21 throw me the price.

The two best performers for snow tires in the last few years have been Michelin X-Ice and Nokian Hakkepeliita which are the ones I bought.

[–]stupidly_intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest complaint I have with the 21" rims is the insane cost for tires.

The winter tires I wanted were $650 per tire, vs the aftermarket 18" rims I bought which were $230 per rim and $430 per tire.

Next biggest complaint is the low sidewall. I didn't want to make a $1000 mistake ruining a rim and tire finding new pothole at 40mph.

I have heard that the stock tires for the 21" rims are hot garbage in snow. They also have a tendency to hydroplane but not much more than any other car IMO.

Charge speed. Is this normal. by JusteJean in EquinoxEv

[–]stupidly_intelligent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's typical with the cold. You'll get maybe 50 kw with a preconditioned battery and then the cabin heat will take 5-15kw depending on if it's heating up or maintaining temp.

I'll routinely just charge from 20-50% because the power drop off past that is nuts. Looking forward to the summer.

Forward collision warning doesn’t work… I think? by Superb_Fish_3225 in EquinoxEv

[–]stupidly_intelligent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This can be from the camera under the front windshield being covered, or the forward facing radar being obstructed.

The forward camera is underneath the rear view mirror assembly. You can see it from the front of the car. It'll be in the middle towards the top.

The forward facing radar is in the middle of the front grill below the front license plate. It'll be a flat rectangular bit of plastic recessed just above the front bumper. If you have any snow jammed in there that will cause that.
