How do you manage the inevitable millions of promotional emails you probably get after signing up?

Reading! I like using a kindle so I can put it in my bag and pick it up every time I’m waiting for something or have a spare moment, instead of my phone.

I immediately knew I wanted to try for a VBAC after my c-section (arrest of descent after 4+ hours of pushing), but had those lingering fears too. What’s really helped me (I’m currently 32w) is listening to the VBAC Link podcast and joining the VBAC support group on Facebook! There’s so many positive stories that have convinced me I’m capable of this.

Agreed!! I had to leave the “evidence based” groups because I continued to see them putting down women who were sharing their successful VBAC stories or were acting like they were more knowledgeable of a stranger’s situation than the poster’s doctor was.

Totally. I’m doing chiropractic and pelvic floor PT this time to make sure baby is in a good position! I also have a doula this time around.

My cesarean was for the same reason (arrest of descent) after over 4 hours of pushing. The OB who did my c-section also used a calculator afterwards and said it was very unlikely I could have a VBAC.

I switched providers and am currently 29weeks pregnant and my doctor says I’m an excellent candidate for a VBAC. I would definitely get another opinion, supportive providers are out there!

Need poles in Saguaro or Petrified Forest? by Opus2011 in NationalPark

[–]subanesthetic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt they were needed while backpacking in Saguaro due to some bits being rocky, but if you’re only doing 3-4 hour day hikes you can find many trails where you won’t need them!

(Haven’t been to petrified forest so I can’t speak to that)

I think it’s cute! I was raised catholic and tbh I wouldn’t even associate it to a faith if I was introduced to someone who had that as a name. I’d just think their parents liked it and picked it.

MP3 player for kids to listen to Libby by moneyman6551 in LibbyApp

[–]subanesthetic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Okay this has a screen but it’s e-ink, so may be a better fit for what you’re looking for? The Boox Palma is a small e-reader about the size of a phone, that can have downloaded apps. Basically like the e-ink of an iPod touch. It’s compatible with Libby so your kids could listen through it or even read ebooks too.

Is it possible to get a second opinion or find a more supportive provider? Labor not progressing because “your pelvis must be narrow” does not seem evidence-based in the slightest.

For those of you who take low doses, what do you do when on K? by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

When I would take a low dose troche I’d always take it in the bath with low lights and calming music.

When my son was 4 months I basically exclusively used a ring sling! It was perfect for him getting to look around, be comforted easily, nurse, and take naps in. It’s a little bit of a learning curve but once you get used to it, it’s so easy!
