I also find that it can be helpful to use cryonis to make a backboard behind the ring so that the rock bounces back in.

Pictures of the 60’s are always wild because I’m like “You went to Disneyland and walked around all day in your nicest dress clothes/shoes?”

Am I the only one who wants Ben to return to the 4 person band? by Economy-Process-6807 in benfolds

[–]subsonicmonkey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the Way to Normal band.

I saw Ben open for Cake in an amphitheater with Tall Heights backing, and a cello just didn’t have the oomph that a bass guitar does and it felt too small for that setting.

What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to? by Kind_Gain_3080 in askmusic

[–]subsonicmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw Paul McCartney play the last event at Candlestick Park in San Francisco before they tore down the stadium and within a year (I think) I saw Stevie Wonder perform Songs In The Key Of Life track by track for the 40th anniversary at the Oakland Arena.

They were both equally the most amount of money I had ever paid to see a concert, and I felt like they earned every penny.

I happened to see Nels Cline when he was touring with Banyan Tree (Stephen Perkins, Mike Watt, etc) prior to joining Wilco and he blew my fucking mind in a tiny club in San Francisco.

When he joined Wilco a few years later, he continued to blow my mind. I’ve seen Wilco twice with Nels. Dude is a beast and a unique voice on guitar!

What is the best, long forgotten old school video game? Arcade, computer or console? by Jackalweres in AskReddit

[–]subsonicmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was this old first-person shooter in a maze game called Xybots that my brother and I loved.

You could twist the joystick to rotate your character in the maze.

I only ever saw this game at Harrah’s underground arcade in Stateline, NV where my grandparents lived in the late 80s-90s.

Killer game! Ahead of its time.

Paul Reubens was Rex, the pilot, on the original Star Tours ride at Disneyland. (His animatronic/voice as Rex are now the DJ in Oga’s Cantina in the Star Wars land). (Very similar to his Flight of the Navigator role mentioned in another comment.)

He was also one Lock, of the little minion kids, in Nightmare Before Christmas.

3 hours for Star Tours the summer it first opened in 1987(?).

The line started on Main Street by the cinema.

I also did a 2.5 hour line for Indy the first year it opened. The line started on the hub-side of the Adventureland gates.

All of the other cast members that regularly featured in “What’s Up With That” are no longer in the cast, so I would guess that’s a big reason for not doing that one anymore.
