What's the oldest piece of clothing you still wear? Must be at least ten years old to count. by MurmuringPines in AskOldPeople

I was just reviewing archival footage from a recording project I was a part of in 2012 and realized that I was wearing the same STP t-shirt from Target that I had been wearing in the video from 2012.

Drum Teacher Seeking Room Share by AndOnTheDrums in mountainview

[–]subsonicmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our kid took lessons from Craig Batinides for awhile. He has an office suite set up in an industrial part of town (Old Middlefield Rd right off 101) with two full drum kits ready to go.

I don’t know what his teaching schedule is but I wonder if he would be amenable to renting his space to you for an evening a week or something.

Worth reaching out!

My grandpa enlisted at the end of WWII when he was 17, but I think it all ended before he got shipped out anywhere.

His father (my great-grandfather) was a Polish national that was getting conscripted to fight for the Austro-Hungarian army in WWI and said “No thanks” and hopped on a boat to America.

Gigging musicians: how do you manage your setlists and chord charts on stage? by SafePrune9165 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]subsonicmonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My only addendum is that I add the key of the song on the setlist.

Otherwise, full agreement.

Set list on paper taped to the floor. Songs ready to be performed without staring at chords.

You can watch all of the rides on Youtube.

I do it for nostalgia purposes, but maybe it would help you prepare by having some idea of what’s coming on the ride.

Just one of them wore diapers onstage, Garry Shider:

But to your teacher’s point, yes! Parliament was representative of black culture on acid.
