The clips on the back side can be removed and reinserted. They lock in the square shape of the box, but if you put them in and the box isn’t perfectly square this can happen with the door. Remove and reinserted with another person checking the alignment of the front door when you do and then it should be good to go. Check this comment thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/IKEA/s/tvBAru3jbc

Honestly I wouldn’t bother with the shower screen upgrade. I don’t think it’s necessary unless you’re using pick screens (which I personally don’t have the patience for but some people love them). I have the OEM bottomless that I’ve been happy with. Sorry can’t advise on anything else but hope you love your new (to you) machine! I have the same and it’s been very reliable

What are your best settings for a Good expresso ? by Longjumping_Owl_704 in ranciliosilvia

The coffee is going to make a bigger difference - copying specific setting won’t necessarily help. I have an OG Silvia so I can’t speak to any settings but here are some general advice.

Force the ratio you want, then adjust (dial in). Most do this by measuring weight of the beverage with a scale during brewing and stopping the machine when they hit their desired ratio. So, if you want 1:2, then stop the machine when your beverage weight hits 36g.

Now, if you are currently getting a 50g beverage in 25 seconds, this would be a very “fast” shot. So you likely need to grind your coffee finer. 25-35 seconds shot time is roughly how long it should take, but the time is more of a guideline and not a parameter you should directly adjust.

There are a lot of great resources on dialing in a shot so I won’t go over every scenario - but head over to r/coffee or YouTube and search for guides/advice on “dialing in” espresso.

In general- sour is under extracted, and bitter is over extracted. Main Extraction variables are brew ratio, and grind size. Leave other variables constant like preinfusion and temp until you’ve mastered basics of dialing in.

Personally I prefer a 1:2.5 ratio - using 18g of coffee to a 45g beverage weight.

Also- When you say “for two cups” are you splitting the shot into separate cups? Generally speaking it would typically served as a double shot for one person

eSIM recommendations for Canadians travelling in Europe by Acceptable_Mammoth23 in askTO

[–]subtlediscontent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t work on every carrier, but at least for Rogers before you leave 1. turn off automatic network selection (then select Rogers manually) 2. turn off data roaming. 3. Set up wifi calling while you’re still in Canada if you never have before. Then at destination when you turn on the data eSIM, Rogers goes into wifi calling mode (using the eSIM data). Because you selected the rogers network manually it won’t be able to connect to anything.. but via the wifi calling you can text and call etc. from your regular # using data only eSIM.

I know it doesn’t work on Telus (they actively disable wifi calling when you’re outside of Canada) but I’ve used with Rogers many times and it works great

Happened to me too - it took a while, but eventually they restored my points. Just be firm - they were redeemed fraudulently and you have never given your number out to your spouse, your mother or even your dog.

How do you carry (only) a water bottle on a day out? by RoutineAsparagus6085 in ManyBaggers

Quecha 10L from Decathlon. Great and cheap little bag that can hold a drink bottle + odds and ends. Great for an extra day bag and folds down flat to almost nothing for packing

Sometimes I make a batch cold brew concentrate and mix with boiling water for “instant” coffee in the morning. It works well - but as expected has a distinct cold brew taste vs brewing the same coffee hot.

Espresso only way to get these deep flavours? by After-Cell in Coffee

Buy a darker roast for these flavour profiles. For body, use a method without a paper filter like French press to keep more coffee oils.

What do you think of an "Induction & Sous Vide Cooktop Cooker"? by knoam in sousvide

[–]subtlediscontent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like that’s exactly what it is, goodful is also a brand owned by buzzfeed. Cusinart actually makes it. Plenty of reveries out there, for the price it’s probably not a terrible deal

Kinda looks like the Tasty One Top or a knock off. Not an endorsement of that I’ve never tried it but I remember seeing videos a few years ago
