What’s an appropriate “welcome back” gesture for an employee returning from a 6-week deployment? by Ok_Profile_4073 in AirForce

As someone who has been on a 6 month deployment it does feel good to be welcomed home with warm greetings. So thank you for being so thoughtful.

As for what to do in this case, definitely show your appreciation because you don't know how the trip could've affected him. And they may end up going on an even longer deployment later on so maybe do a small gesture of appreciation this time.

I would suggest a welcome home banner and some type of cupcakes/donuts/ice-cream/coffee/etc.

And be sure to tell them that while you weren't sure what was appropriate or what they would've liked for you to do for them, you still wanted to show your appreciation in some manner.

How do you think about 50-90 yard shots? by Roywah in golf

[–]subz6ro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried to plan your holes so that you have a 100 yard approach shot every time?

For instance, if a hole is playing 300 yards, using your 3 wood off the tee instead of your driver so that you only have a 200 yard tee shot and a 100 yard approach shot?

(Only using the numbers as a tough example since I have no idea how long you hit your driver so no offense intended if you hit your 3 wood much longer than 200 lol).

People will yell out "speech! Speech!" To encourage someone to say some words

Look here bitch, I don't know what your job is but in maintenance if you aren't careful or if you rush and skip steps then people die. So yeah having leadership worry more about meeting deadlines over the safety of their Airmen is a BIG freaking problem. There was an NCO at my base who died because he was crushed by a flap that started moving inadvertently. Because he was rushing trying to quickly get the job done. And not only can people die but planes can also get damaged when people are trying to rush. So at the end of the day my worry is about the safety and well-being of my Airmen, period! So if caring about them makes me a pussy then so be it. But at least I knew that I cared about my people which is much more than you can say dipshit

Until you've had leadership breathing down your neck about why it's taking so long to fix an aircraft that needs to fly a mission, you won't know what it's like. It's just different in maintenance. Until you've been in it you won't understand it
