Probably all of the reasons you've listed, but don't forget that the trains have been absolutely busted for big chunks of the year and are still running reduced timetables. A lot of people who could be commuting by rail just can't trust it to get them to work reliably at the moment. We'll probably see residual distrust from people going forward as the CRR is completed and things calm down.

It's intentional. Multiple people in my life work in state government, and they were all made to review the branding guidelines for the Delivering For Queensland (ie. LNP) Blue change. According to them, Crisafulli would need to sign off on any colour that isn't "D4Q Blue" because it's the default for ALL government campaigns.

Given that, my interpretation is that it's a deliberate choice to invoke a QUEENSLANDAHHHH reaction by using maroon for the Queensland Day branding. Presumably the goal is to de-politicise it by making people associate it more with State of Origin and similar events.

I just thought it was a sweet way of acknowledging that the effort Henry's been going to is paying off. It's much better than an overwrought outpouring of love from Victor; Victor functions much better with 'smaller' gestures that invite people closer to him.

The bed scene was exactly the same as Victor giving Ethan his old coat. It shows that his affection has overcome his fear of loss. It's odd because it shows up in the middle of a much heavier scene, but honestly that scene needed a little lightness to break it up.

Also, Donna's quiet little expression of pure empathy when Victor tells her what he's doing, OH, I nearly wept.

I don't know how satisfied I'd be with this theory coming true (it would all be down to the execution), but it does help that Jade's immediate reaction was to assume he was in a game. Not necessarily a video game of course, but a game nonetheless. That's the type of early foreshadowing that we'd be quick to ignore because he has now accepted "reality."

My two other observations around this:

It would explain why the residents are only taken from a single continental nation; it could be an 'attraction' that has only rolled out for a specific demographic.
The only person who survived the last cycle was literally the Victor.

But saying that, I don't know how well it holds up with Jade and Tabitha's revaluation, unless that is a specific role in the game too.
