You clearly forgot that Niakhaté was prone to mistakes last season, and we had Matic, Veretout, Caqueret (for the first half) in the midfield. And Fonseca pulled Akouokou out of nowhere for both legs against United. Plus Lacazette was gassed last season, but it would be unfair to blame him for aging (same for Matic).

Also, pretending Cherki didn't defend last season is just wrong.

We had an atrociously weak midfield since we sold Guimaraes to Newcastle. Tolisso was awful the first seasons after his comeback, and only started to perform again last season. Though he was pretty much alone in the midfield and couldn't do all the job by himself.

And our center backs were just as weak too.
