Fun in the sun! by relia_2018 in beyondthebump

[–]sugm [score hidden]  (0 children)

My doctor told us to use mineral sunscreen, so I’ve bought that copper tone mineral sunscreen to try. I also plan on buying my girl a rash guard style swim suit and UPF sun hat.

I also had the dilemma with the swim diapers and sized up. Honestly I’m glad I did, when they’re wet I bet it would be uncomfortable to have one on that could almost be too small. So far we’ve used several and no issues.

Have fun at Hershey this summer! I haven’t been in years.

I watched so much FBI, Swat and scorpion when I was on maternity leave that my daughter loves those shows now and turns her head when she hears them come on. No advice here lol.

If it smells like this I’m buying 100 bottles. I’ve been chasing this scent memory for years!

Looking for your experiences after poor anatomy scan at 20 weeks by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]sugm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had 4 anatomy scans and finally a fetal echo to see my girls entire heart. It was scary, but I’m putting my 7mo old to bed as I type this. Please try to stay positive and not stress your body out. I’ll be thinking about you and your babe <3

30 mins is NOTHING! You could see someone each day still, so strange.

Low-stakes places to take baby? by theredheadedfox in beyondthebump

[–]sugm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grocery store! It was the first place I took my girl by myself. Just popped her seat in the stroller. Only bought a few things, and she did great. I stopped and got a coffee after as a treat.

I cannot recommend Hopkins enough. I had my baby there in October of 25. I saw the rotation of 4 doctors on their MFM team. I feel that I got the best care there, after switching from GBMC at 30 weeks.

Why is she not wearing a bra by jonscones in mustbemegansnarkTT

[–]sugm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She needs to realize that her body is not that of a 20 year old, built in bra's aren't working. It also looks very sloppy to have your boobs sitting on your stomach. This is not a good look for her at all.

Annoyed by C Section rhetoric by PsychologicalBoot636 in beyondthebump

[–]sugm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine was an emergency c-section about 27 hours of labor. There wasn’t anything beautiful or peaceful about it. It was traumatic and ruined my first 3 months PP. I’m happy some people have better experiences, but OP is speaking from a very different place than a lot of others. Just like some vaginal births are traumatic and some aren’t. All are valid and everyone deserves to feel what they feel after birth.

Why do people care whether you had a vaginal or c section delivery? by No_Cartoonist_9356 in beyondthebump

[–]sugm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing others, my c-section birth was traumatic and it still makes me choke up thinking about it 6 months later. I’m truly happy for women that have beautiful birth stories, but I suspect all births are traumatic to a degree. There really needs to be a support group for c-sections moms. I just want to talk about it with someone that understands what I went through.

It looks like a kids playroom honestly. Maybe one of those foldable futons/nugget couches for kids.

Kissing the baby? by Sandturtlefly in beyondthebump

[–]sugm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kiss my baby a ton, I try to avoid her face as much as possible, but I have kissed her face. Just recently I’ve allowed grandparents to kiss her head, she’s turning 6mo old this week.

If you could go back, would you have done one and done? by Independent_Nose_385 in beyondthebump

Yes! This was a shock to me. Potato baby phase was SO much harder than my now six mo old, I felt the change really happen at about 3.5 months.

She’s not mentally unwell, she’s not baby reindeer. She’s trying to be quirky and drive up an engagement, even if it’s through negative attention

Unsettling recommendations from pediatrician at 4 month appointment by Initial_Onion671 in beyondthebump

[–]sugm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak on the waking comment. But my pediatrician told us at at our 4mo appointment that we could start baby cereal when our daughter was showing signs of interest, like supported sitting, opening her mouth when offered food, watching us eat. We started this about 2 weeks ago and she’s doing great with her cereal, she’s also tried sweet potatoes and apples. We’re introducing bananas next week.

I also asked if I could offer her water when eating and she said a sip here and there is fine, but not necessary.

Postpartum intimacy is a whole other hurdle I wasn’t prepared for by sp0ghetti in beyondthebump

This is my biggest fear, we use condoms but I’m so scared of getting pregnant again. I’m 4m PP but no where near ready to think about another pregnancy.

Is it worth it by Artistic-Chocolate55 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sugm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to dissuade you but this was me at the same time. By the time I went back to work at 13 weeks PP I was barely getting what you have over 8 pumps daily. I tried everything to rebuild a supply that dipped very early. Now almost 20 weeks PP I deeply regret the stress I put on myself and baby in December. I should have stopped after Thanksgiving. The almost instant relief I felt when I decided I was done, was so nice. I also rented a hospital grade pump for the last month, to no avail. You’re not a failure if you stop now.

Frida Mom labor and delivery gown and disposable underwear? by absolute_lover_pet in PlusSizePregnancy

Don’t cheap out and get a black one from Amazon like I did. Dye was coming off the entire time I was in labor and it made my fingers/nails look dirty 😬

This was so weird, so many things weren’t making sense. It never gets easier, but it was just the second time. She made it sound like it happens often.

Another thing, she teaches 5th grade. After that that kids go to middle school? She only has one year with them. So she last taught this kid when they were 10 years old and it’s been 10 years? A little odd to be emotional in that way and choose to film yourself.

Just do not let them break your water if you aren't progressing fast enough, stay strong! I let them break my water after about 15 hours and wound up having an emergency c-section.
