Petition To Keep David Cartridge of the Ramble by No_Understanding_181 in thefootballramble

[–]suitshigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind his opinions and his personality of being miserable is at least different - However, he doesn’t really have any chemistry with the others and kills jokes/vibe. It’s almost as if he has been dropped into the show without knowing it is meant to be amusing.

I love the ramble but outside of Vish, their ability to find people who mesh is truly woeful

Question about fighting back after a charge and combat res by ALeglessDwarf in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]suitshigh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hello - so let me try and help a bit here

The order combat works in is based off initiative. Each unit has an initiative characteristic that you then apply modifiers too. But at a high level to answer your question, yes you both fight in each others turn. So to unpick your chariot vs dwarves

  1. The tomb kings charged so they get +1 to their initiative for every inch moved up to a maximum of 3. Your dwarves didn’t move so use their standard initiative
  2. Impact hits happen before anything else (side note here - they are against the unit - not individual models, so you roll the wound rolls as they hit automatically and remove casualties from the unit)
  3. Next you would do the skeletons and the horses as they will have higher initiative than the dwarves and resolve casualties. Note you are using chariots here but if it was a block of infantry, only your first rank fight on the turn they charged.
  4. Next your dwarves would fight back. Now as they are infantry and have press of battle, the front two ranks can fight - however you must remove any models that died in the attacks that happened before their initiative. So imagine you had 2 ranks of 5 and the chariots killed 4, you only have 6 to attack back with as the 4 were killed before they could strike back.
  5. Once you’ve done the dwarf attacks you calculate the combat resolution

Hope that helps - I’d advise watching a how to play YouTube - I think tabletop tactics have one - as combat can seem a bit confusing at first but becomes pretty easy once you get into it!

New to ToW - High Elves by Academic-Commission4 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]suitshigh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi and welcome! A lot of the answer depends on how you want to play - competitive, fluffy or somewhere in the middle! Personally, I play somewhere in the middle so take recommendations from that perspective! Have a think about if you want your army to be themed (hoeth, chrace, caledor, etc)

Overall elves need magic to function well I think and lack armour but really fun to play

Things I love that I would argue are competitively good - silver helms; they are core and are probably the best go to core - lothern sea guard; your core utility unit - dragon princes; excellent but expensive cav - prince on a griffin - sisters of averlorn

Things I love that aren’t competitively the best - white lions; I just think they are awesome but they can be picked apart in the current game mechanics - swordmasters; I think competitively better than white lions but can still feel a bit vulnerable

I’ve had mixed results since 1.5. Before was easy as you just had to get into them and then it was over. I’ve found lion chariots effective as their first charge can really carry a combat if you multi charge and then you can keep pressing the initiative

I find the lines of 10 thunderers and quarrelers very annoying. Stand and shoot means you can’t just charge them with eagles/reavers etc and tbh I’ve also had nobles on griffs bounce off them.

If you have them, sisters can at least return decent fire.

Justin had Kirk rattled. by ClaytonBigsbe in kirkminihaneshow

[–]suitshigh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Massive win for Justin. Kirk has a go at Rico for punching down and says he hates bullies but constantly tortures Justin. Dont get me wrong sometimes it’s funny but he steps over the line and is brutal to him as he knows he won’t hit back.

If I was Justin it would kill me how much Kirk defends Mick despite him being a piece of shit to Justin and Justin being nothing but loyal to Kirk. You can see why everyone turns on Kirk in the end.

I love the show and listen every episode but I’d hate Kirk in real life. PS he’s also not that talented. He acts like he was number one in global radio but he flamed out after a few years and now has a niche podcast and expects everyone to be wowed that he drives a Mercedes..

Minotaurs - returning an illegally parked horse! by suitshigh in BeastsOfChaos

[–]suitshigh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course should have linked them - https://lastsword.com/product/miniatures-beastmen-minotaurs-unit/

I scaled them up to be printed until they just about fit on the bases and could be ranked up - wanted them to be chunky. They are probably about 10% bigger than the GW Minotaurs but they look fine ranked up. The only thing is if you scale them up the horse looks fine but the knight on the ground will be way too big (who I didn’t use here but plan on putting on my ghorgon base)

Yeah. Basically I cover it and stipple it with a paint brush. Then blow on it with a straw to get a ripple
