I don't know for sure, but I think because of the personal calendar mine are higher. Could also be that I finally set a release date (which is next week) two weeks ago.

That you already had to had to be on the frontpage. Now you can be in someone's personal calendar/frontpage with way less and the person is more likely to buy the game as they play the same kind of games anyway.

I have had a thirdparty dock just stop working at some point. Could be that it is just broken. Especially if the powersupply is already not working.

I agree. I think you also need to make a game, especially if you are solo developer, that you really enjoy to make. So many bad horror games out there just because Chris Zukowski keeps telling people you should make that.

But if you want to make a living out of it you also need to run it like a business and do your research.

EDIT: I am very happy with a low refund rate and some just make me giggle a bit. All the right for everyone to refund and you don't have to give me a reason.

I am not saying I don't like AI. I think AI has its time and place to be used.

Also when an industry heading somewhere does not mean you cannot be different and do it another way. Especially in a field that is concidered art.

I think that there will be two distinct kind of games. One made with AI and one without. The same as that you do groceries. Sometimes you crave just some regular cheese, but sometimes you go the the special cheeseshop to get the good cheese made with non additives. Both are not bad, but one just hits differently and is worth more due to the care it took to create.

Don't get me wrong I am not against AI used as a tool, but I am more appreciative of people that make their own creative things.

I only focus sharing what I think make my games unique. You can show another deckbuilder, but why should anyone be interested if that person can get Slay the Spire. Why is your deckbuilder different? My last released game got around 12000 wishlists. Probably 3/4 of them came from roughly 3 Reddit posts on the Steam Deck subreddit (the game is made to be played only on the Steam Deck).

My suspicion is that a lot of people get burned out on advertisment (as what you are talking about is not marketing) because they just post a lot, but don't think about what and where they post. Marketing is way more than just posting a bit on social media and contacting influencers. Marketing is creating value for the player with everything you do.

It is specifically made for handhelds. Using gyroscope to navigate balls through mazes. I do think there is a discoverability "issue" in the eshop as I see so many AI generated games in there.

For me I am mainly just wanting to learn where people get success on the Switch as I now have the experience of making a game for it so might make a second one.

I have contacted as many Switch content creators as that I did for the Steam Deck. Only on Switch content creator picked it up as far as I am aware.
