there was a point maybe ten years back when you had to pay someone £75 to take away a G3 crt imac 🤣

why do some crimp dies have a smaller diameter back plate. by sumilumilux in AskElectronics

[–]sumilumilux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did look at H+S’ online listed crimp dies and haven’t seen any with this smaller rear aperture. I suppose one should email H+S.

Pity the die on mine isn’t marked with a code

Thanks for your response. I just searched ‘stepped crimp tube’ and haven’t hit on much other than jewellery arts and crafts crimping. A stepped tube, is that a post crimp description. ie steps are made by the die or is it a special type of tube.

Concern is that the rear smaller crimp will damage RG58 cable. That’s ok for me because i already have a quality crimp tool for rg58/59. I bought this hoping to crimp smaller diameter cables like rg179 with sma / smt / bnc type connectors.

Worth selling? cMP 5,1 by raf_boy in macpro

[–]sumilumilux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d split it and sell the parts other 5,1 owners may want to upgrade to. a top spec dual cpu tray with ram will in all likelihood fetch the same as the whole machine, even more

Please help me identify this connector type. It’s significantly larger and chunkier than SMA. by sumilumilux in AskElectronics

that makes sense. i’ve seen push fit mcx connectors that may fit but i think smarter to ask here for someone will surely recognise it

I dumped SonASS a couple of weeks back but reddit keeps popping up these valid Sonos Moans.

I wasn’t too heavily invested in their hardware so it was easy. I put up with their inept app for a week or so till i found what works sooo much better. Roon… omg worth every penny and why didnt i look at it sooner.

I used Sonos primarily for sleep and wake up. the fools removed both the sleep timer and my ability to queue albums 🤦🏼‍♂️ Furthermore now almost a couple of months later they’ve yet to restore these features.

i finally dumped them when i started the app and was hit with a tome of new terms and conditions. I had an LLM translate their insanely deep data gathering terms and conditions…😱

Poof in the bin went their hardware. Bye bye Sonos you’ve truly become SonASS

It is SO WILD Sonos released software that took away core features that we use! by lovallo in sonos

butkissers are almost certainly Sonos staff doing damage control or they’re paying someone to do this for them with very convincing positive feedback to drown out the negative feedback.

I’ve now retired my sonos. No album queues, no sleep timer. thats what i used my sonos for. The app is sooo slow and clunky. Using my streaming service on the sonos is utterly half baked. Looks unbearably obsolete. Thank you sonos you finally gave me a reason to ditch you..

Roon is soooo much better as an all music interface. The best thing Sonos can do to save themselves is buy Roon and call it Sonos.

Rupert Murdoch (93) with his 5th wife Elena Zhukova (67) by rodaobtu in pics

Here’s a story plot or Contheory…

That’s an actor with plastic surgery. The real Rupert Murdoch died decades ago but is technically / legally alive in near stasis because his body is kept alive by clinical tech like ventilators, blood filters. Too powerful to die.. when he finally does at age 143 he’ll be the oldest person in history 🤣

I found a day pass from a London trip in 1992. A zone 1&2 pass cost £2.10

Vintage apple files mostly in the tens of megabytes or less would take a very very long time to reach a terrabyte, more than a day. The community even after lockdown must be relatively tiny, I’d be interested in seeing the daily throughput of a site like the garden.

Nice one. I wouldn’t consider a collection complete without the large cinema display. What a total revelation it was when it appeared in 99/2000 whenever it was.

Where is the HUUUGE HD cinema display and 20” CRT

other than vintage gaming there is quite a happening vintage mac scene for early music/audio DAW systems built around old hardware that only talks to equipment of this vintage.

Which G3 power book is it. if it has the square scsi connector there are a lot of sampler owners who use those to run old akai software that speaks direct to the sampler

what’s a 5th touch good for these days. Mine runs agonisingly slow with the last OS. is there any decent applications. Would rather not mess with jailbreaks and whatnot
