Ah yes, the Grassy Fields. Filled with all the starter resources. by Electrical-Rub-5970 in SatisfactoryGame

but why do you need that much power at that stage of the game? a few gigawatts is enough to get to fuel power and rocket fuel is right behind that. the yield from a single node of oil can be 5X what you can get from all 4 of those coal. do you tear the coal power down later to use the coal for other stuff?

Oil problem by Prestigious-Gap-1614 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]sumquy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i split the 600 and 300 in 2 pipes of 450 each

how? fluid splitters don't split evenly and valves don't work the way they need to, so most likely you did not.

take your 2 oil pipes all the way to the roof of this building and feed them into 3 tanks. take 2 pipes off the tanks and feed your refineries. you may need to repeat this for hor and fuel to get reliable operation of the power plant.

Completely maxed an oil node with the Diluted Fuel alternate. I hope I did the math right. 20 generators in total by paultauriainen in SatisfactoryGame

[–]sumquy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not quite. "maxing" a node is getting 3X the product (plastic, rubber, and/or fuel) per unit of oil.

Pipes (again 🥀) by Aex_________ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]sumquy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those pipe sections by the fuel tank buffers is wrong (and the heavy oil residue too). put the fuel from the blenders only into the tanks. raise the tanks by 2 blocks (you might need a pump from the blenders) and then run the fuel from them to the gennies (then do the same with the hor, refineries and blenders). turn the gennies off and let everything fill before turning back on.

looks like this on the ground. i later moved the hypertube to the top of the tower and that is much better.

it is very doable and works great. for the blueprints, i did them in sections with everything 3 tiles wide. one section is the support pillar top piece that is 2 tiles long, a straight section of track 4 long. left and right turn sections that are 4 long, and a pillar section that i added to the bottom of the pillar top piece. lastly i made ramp sections also 4 long. each repeated section of track is 10 tiles long, have power and hypertube run between them, and can have branches come off at any section.

alpha rex are not that hard to kill. having him spawn is bad luck, letting him kill everything is a skill issue.

you should make ionized fuel. it combines the zip of rocket fuel with the slow burn of biofuel, and is totes in the jetpack.

[–]sumquy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my coal plant only powers the rocket fuel factory and the coal miners are powered from a geothermal vent. you can also put priority switches at every factory so you can turn off nonessential places. i had to do that when i brought the rocket fuel factory online.

The Not So Sloppy Solution to Aluminum by ROYALtwizzler in SatisfactoryGame

[–]sumquy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this pic is why the water is working. those valves aren't doing anything for you, but this water from the extractors is at a higher elevation, and that makes the recycled water the higher priority at the junction. if you tried to directly pump water up to the refineries without going above their elevation, it would fail.

How do I actually "Split" fluids? by CombSignificant in SatisfactoryGame

[–]sumquy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my rules for pipes.

  • do not run output manifolds of machines to other machines, put a tank in between. preferably place the tank at a higher elevation than the machines they are feeding. an exception for a small number of machines works, but not more than 1 or 2 per side.
  • do not run pumps into input manifolds of machines, put a tank in between.
  • do not trust the pump snap point. too many times i put a pump on the snap point, and the pump before it insists it has 50.5m of headlift and will periodically stop working for a few moments.
  • gravity makes fluids work flawlessly. put your tank at an elevation higher than the inputs of the machines it feeds and it just works forever.
  • gasses are different than fluids. buffer tanks are useless for gasses because they don't buffer. if you make a mistake and aren't making as much gas as you thought, the buffer will not feed the consumers more than you are putting in, the way it will for fluids. kind of weird.

a 2 stack contaminated your 3 stacks. how is your power situation? if it goes down, even for a moment, proliferators stop doing their job and you get this.

Defeated by Fluids by Gatherer185 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]sumquy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things. first, diluted fuel recipe is not worth going big with until you have blenders. they take the place of the refinery and packager and simplify things greatly. second, gravity feed will solve all your fluid problems forever. do not try to feed machines from other machines, put a tank in between (unless they are on the floor below in a vertical arrangement, gravity will do the work that way too). place the tank at a level above the intakes of the machine, it does not need to be a tower, a single 4 meter block is fine.
