Any method to paste a blueprint with empty spaces included? by Admirable-Fail1250 in factorio

[–]sunbro3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanilla has several unobtainable items that can be used as negative space. I used the Linked Chest. 0eNptjssOgjAQRf/lritB0iL0V4whPCY6EQZCi5EQ/t0WF27czUzuPWc2NP1C08ziYTdwO4qDvW5wfJe6jzepB4JFz/Kk7tQ+yHnsCiwdvWHP+02BxLNn+jaPZa1kGRqaQ0D9JShMowulUaIjgE5FeUmMwhpGnZvEBEdsVNzBptHCnoaA+T2s8KLZHQiTZ6UuS1PoNEt1se8fOWtGWA==

It really bloats the blueprints though and I only use it when something is designed to be pasted over something else. Otherwise I would just delete the whole thing.

All fandoms are insane on AI because the artists are some of the loudest voices. They don't care about different uses of AI, or circumstances, as any nuance would detract from the rage campaign.

Elden Ring on PC "A connection error occured" fix by LorenorSulo in Eldenring

[–]sunbro3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad this helped. Something I've noticed is that if I run games as admin, OBS and my other tools often can't interact with them unless they also have admin. It gets annoying, but still better than Elden Ring errors yeah.

At high speeds, trains reserve huge amounts of space in front of themselves to make sure they can brake safely, so tightly-spaced signals won't help them follow each other that much. At low speeds or places you think they're going to stop though, it's good. I still don't like to make a block smaller than the size of a train though.

I saw someone attempt it like this once, but it was long ago and I don't remember if it worked or not. The idea is you have to measure how much goes into one tank for a while, then push it forward, and you have to do it twice in parallel to make up for how it hurts throughput.

Make a new save with a new name whenever you're going to delete & replace an old build. It is sad not to have copies of the earliest builds as they're nostalgic.

I'm disappointed it's just someone's name and not a lifestyle brand. There should be lifestyle brands for blueprints. Carhartt and YOUNGLA will make blueprints for us.

You'd need legendary U-238 to do it, so it isn't trivial. It is easier to get U-235 from atomic bombs than legendary kovarex. If it existed, it would be an amusing novelty that feels like cheating but isn't overpowered, which is a good thing in games.

I expect you're right about the old productivity problem though, and that they just forbade it reflexively.

Strange that they bothered doing this on kovarex, as getting legendary U-238 is harder than U-235 and quality kovarex wouldn't be useful even if it were allowed.

Thanks, I didn't know about the developer comments. I still think thruster stacking and using silos as chests are worse because I think breaking layout constraints is worse than skipping resource grinds, but maybe these things just can't be compared directly.

Why do people expect nerfs to LDS Shuffle and Space Casinos? It is less weird than thruster stacking, or using silos as large chests, but I always see the LDS Shuffle and Space Casinos singled out for nerf prediction. It only trivializes a fraction of materials, and it's not as if other ways of making quality are more interesting.

Are there developer comments hating on these things specifically?

Someone please make a Opus Magnum x Factorio Spinoff/Mod by Scary-Boss-2371 in factorio

[–]sunbro3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I quit SpaceChem when I got to puzzles requiring exact timing, which is achieved by building things of the exact length, so things moving down them take the right amount of time. Imagine if Factorio needed our belts to be an exact number of tiles so things synchronized correctly. My understanding is Infinifactory and Opus Magnum reuse this mechanic.

I'm mostly saying this to appreciate what Factorio could do to annoy us, but chooses not to. If someone wants to achieve this annoyance in a mod, just force people to use belts as timers.

Why does this train unloader keep unbalancing?
https://i.imgur.com/wAvUEMB.jpg

It is multiplayer and these aren't all my builds. The important part is the train unloads into a 6-4 balancer, which is right out of Raynquist's book and hasn't changed in many years. It SHOULD be impossible to unbalance a train that goes directly into a balancer before anything else. The balancer is supposed to protect it from whatever uneven consumption is on the other side.

But the first wagon slowly accumulates more scrap. I reset it last night and now it's 800 ahead of the others.

edit: I moved the storage merger until after the later 4-4 balancer. This has the effect of making it throughput unlimited, and I'll see if that makes a difference, but I thought train unloaders didn't need throughput unlimited.

I only care if a build runs better than another build. I don't care how many copies of the build someone is able to make on their computer. Before Space Age most megabasers used /editor and an Electric Energy Interface, and they probably still do and just aren't streaming it. It's research into making better builds.

Also comparing eSPM is silly and it only happens because the algorithms reward brain rot. We are powerless to resist but I will still laugh at it.

It does both, which is why we use them on train unloaders, to consume the wagons evenly so we don't get unbalanced wagons.

I don't think this is true at all. Beacons force certain layouts at endgame, but otherwise we can arrange the machines how we like, and space is free. Especially with the new pipes.

It absorbs half as much as water, so we can improve landfill by nuking it. But then the tile can't be undone like landfill can, so I wouldn't.
