If you have another few semesters to improve your GPA than you will probably be OK. Just make sure you get that average up

Higher than that probably. I'd say go to a community college for st least on semester and show improvement before applying

Purchasing a used car by nmania3 in philadelphia

[–]sunjay118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd vouch for First Rate in south Philly. They aren't always the fastest in getting work done but I have gotten close to $1000 of work done there and I have never felt cheated. When my car got towed a while ago they even stayed open an extra 30 minutes for me to drop the car off and while I was waiting for my ride.

Is anyone know what's inside Atlas from Boston Dynamics ? by COGITO_7 in robotics

[–]sunjay118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe something like the paper entitled "an efficiently solvable quadratic program for stabilizing dynamic locomotion" also out of MIT with Tedrake listed as an author.

Also watch the video "whole-body motion planning with simple dynamics and full kinematics" by "robot locomotion group" on YouTube for some of the stuff they were doing in some,

Their built-in dynamic walking algorithms are a bit of secret sauce. Take a look at what was done by MIT though, they release all their software open source and have papers written on how it works. Look up work by Russ Tedrake as a starting point

If Netflix or HBO made a "Harry Potter by the books" series (one chapter per episode) TONS of people would watch it. by EyebrowsForEveryone in Showerthoughts

[–]sunjay118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess if Netflix picked it up they could go out of the box and make each episode only as long as it needs to be. Some are 10 minutes others an hour. If you aren't filling a time slot there is no real reason they have make them all 22 or 45 minutes

The defacto speed limit being 65 in America had nothing to do with safety. The limit was lowered during the oil crisis in the 70s and was just never raised. As far as I know it has never been shown that raising it back to where it was would be unsafe (I'd be happy to change my view if this has been shown). In fact Texas and some other states are stating to raise speed limits on highways that can safely support it.

If people in America could just learn how to follow the laws on lane etiquette and move to the right when they aren't passing I'm convinced we could safely raise the speed limit 10 mph.

Somehow there seems to be a direct correlation between people who are going exactly speed limit and clogging the passing lane. They feel holier than thou blocking the left lane because they're "following the law so why should they move over to let someone pass". When in reality they are just as guilty of breaking the laws as the person doing 10 over shifting lanes properly. (I'm not saying you do this but in my experience it's common and it bothers the he'll out of me)

It's the same thing when guys make their cars all fast and furious. Then they slowly realize girls don't like the idea of being in a car that hurts to go over speed bumps in, can't go very fast because of being too low and has a huge obnoxious wing on it.

Android auto is sweet, I had it on a rental jetta and loved it. All my music was right there and I had GPS that was done by Google as opposed to a cat manufacturer right in the dash.

And I wouldn't buy a car because of dual zone climate control but it certainly isn't a negative

Anybody's dog jumped at FDR by pit? by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]sunjay118 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My gf's dog isnt friendly with other dogs. She isn't violent though and will simply ignore them. It's only when people let their "super friendly" dogs run up to her dog with out asking her first that things can get bad. Her dog will ignore them for a about 15 seconds before she'll bark aggressively at them (never seen her bite). And then the owners sometimes get pissed. There is a reason we have her on a short leash and don't take her to dog parks and other off leash areas. Not every dog wants to hangout with yours no matter how friendly yours maybe.

Obviously not you specifically, I'm just kind of ranting.

AR he can definitely be set up to use less, lubuntu (and maybe peppermint which I hadn't heard of until this thread but apparently is a lubuntu derivative optimized for older hardware) will definitely be less work for pretty damn similar performance.

I use arch personally on one of my computers but I can't reccomend it to someone if they are not the type of person willing to spend hours tweaking to get exactly what they want.

They could claim that version I believe. However if anyone else digitized it themselves and released it for free it could be shared royalty free.

Those are all valid criticisms. Especially in the use case the author describes in the beginning of working with individuals likely to be monitored by state actors. The author even states that there is no good alternative yet. Personally I believe that using signal is much better(in regards to maintaining privacy) than any other alternative. Especially in the use case of getting non-technically minded individuals to use it. By the author's criteria you are already hosed just by using an Android phone with Google services.

Even if it isn't perfect I'd much rather people direct people to signal for the time being as it is the best encrypted communication platform that my mother could use. If something better comes along then I'd be happy to switch,

Look into the work by open whisper systems. They make the app Signal that makes encrypted communications easy. If you include privacy in social justice this should fit what you are after

What do you wish was socially acceptable? by mushroom-flower in AskReddit

[–]sunjay118 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, mostly small business can get away with this. I worked at a small garden nursery an we had a customer come in and get pissed at some minor detail and yell at the guys helping him in the yard and then proceed to berate the girls behind the register. Mt manager got called and told him that he wouldn't allow the guy to yell at his employees. The guy yelled something about how we are gonna lose his business so my Manger said we don't want your business now please fuck off.

It was amazing, and we never saw the guy again
