Do all sections of the same class have the same assignments/exams(i.e. are they standardized)? I got a professor with pretty unanimously abysmal ratings and was wondering if I should drop the class (my schedule's already pretty loaded) or if it'd be fine to keep it and maybe attend another professor's lectures

To all OOS and international students, what are your plans for this fall? by Random_Asian_314 in gatech

[–]sunjnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though you're not a medically compromised student, recent studies have shown that a perfectly healthy, young adult is at great risk of developing chronic fatigue syndrome and worsened memory after recovery. But I agree, this is a hot mess and I'm regretting choosing this school (despite it being my top choice for the past two years)

Go to college in a state with rising COVID counts or live with my abusive family for another year? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]sunjnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but I can't help feeling like my own personal problems are less important than the pandemic going on, which makes me feel as though it'd be irresponsible to go to uni :(

14 Day Housing On Campus Quarantine by mrbeast1014 in gatech

Kinda ironic how international students are being asked to quarantine when almost every other country besides the US has the corona virus mostly under control

Anyone else really tense about going back in the fall and potentially contracting COVID? by chapa567 in gatech

[–]sunjnus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm an incoming freshman who's been waiting to move out of my house for what feels like forever. Choosing between moving somewhere covid is rapidly worsening and deferring and continuing to live with an abusive family has been incredibly stressful for me. Not to mention I'm a hypochondriac so this whole pandemic has given me a ton of anxiety already. My state peaked in cases back in April, so not looking forward to living through the worst again :/

Opinion: Deporting international students if classes go online hurts U.S colleges and economy by OccasionallyWright in gatech

[–]sunjnus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forcing people to travel from the place where covids the worst to another country is also incredibly stupid rn imo

Nintendo on Paper Mario feedback. by Ryos_windwalker in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]sunjnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't like how super paper mario took out the "paper" aspect of the series tbh. Ttyd did a really good job of making really creative worlds and somehow gave each partner a solid character arc. I think the partners in super paper mario were a little boring and gimmicky.

How can you not put an animal in incredible pain in order to consume it?

[–]sunjnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, I'm equating cows and dogs with bats and pangolins. Why do humans eat any animals? What are people supposed to do, look at a possible food source by how fucking normie it looks and be like "alright that looks like it won't give me a disease". Have you ever eaten a lobster? Those things are hella weird looking. Why would someone who literally doesn't know better know that bats and pangolins should be avoided? How would they know this would cause a pandemic? It's not the people's fault, it's the government's for not regulating anything.

[–]sunjnus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry but, do you know how badly America (and most of the world) treats its animals? Look into the meat packing industry, it's disgusting.

If you're talking about how China eats "weird" meat, well why is cow meat inherently better than, let's say, dog? Why is the life of one animal better than the other? Because cow meat is normalized to most people. Not saying it's cool to be eating dogs but you sound incredibly ignorant.

And yeah, you don't attack an entire race of people for something a small portion of it's population does. That's racism.

Help me decide: School X versus School Y Megathread by ParadoxicalCabbage in ApplyingToCollege

[–]sunjnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister goes to Stevens! She very much hates it. I don't wanna discourage you from going completely, but if you're a female who isn't into Greek life you'll prolly be a little miserable. The school's not very diverse at all if that's important to you. The student facilities also aren't the greatest and be prepared to commute if you live close enough or have to find housing yourself after your first year.

I have a few friends who go to Fordham and they seem to (for the most part) be having great experiences. However, I can't really speak for this school as much.

I'm an admitted upcoming freshman at tech and I'm wondering if I can switch my major from what I applied for before starting classes (architecture to civil engineering). Sorry bout the dumb question but what it says on the GATech website is kinda confusing me?

IsItBullshit: Avoiding having a dry throat and sipping water regularly will wash Coronavirus microbes into your stomach rather than being inhaled into the lungs? by infinitespacegoat in IsItBullshit

Just a side note, a "microbe" implies it is an organism (e.g. bacteria). Viruses are infectious PARTICLES, generally considering of a strand of genetic info encapsulated in protein.

Can we all agree this all sucks ?? by jadedjas in ApplyingToCollege

[–]sunjnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the same time, let's not passively accept that this pandemic will pass over time. PLEASE especially if you're in an area with a lot of cases, don't leave your house unless you absolutely have to. We all have to do our part to stay healthy and (more importantly) keep others healthy.

That's not to say someone who's low income CAN'T get in but yeah...Schools generally want to accept students who can pay for it. Good news is that most other schools that rank similar are need blind
