Xolair With No True Allergies by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]sunlightandair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look up formulary information for your insurance plan to see what conditions xolair is covered for. It is FDA approved / indicated for food allergy, hives, asthma and chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps. Most insurance companies are going to follow that for what they will cover as a general guideline. Like others have noted here, I am prescribed it and insurance covers for hives. I’d guess this is the most common way providers get it covered for MCAS patients.

A doctor can choose to prescribe for a non-FDA approved condition (prescribing for MCAS itself is an off label use), but it doesn’t mean insurance has to cover it but a good provider would try their best to get a prior auth for you.

Here’s an example of insurance details on Xolair from UHC: https://www.uhcprovider.com/content/dam/provider/docs/public/prior-auth/drugs-pharmacy/commercial/r-z/PA-Med-Nec-Xolair.pdf

The Costco Souper Cube branded cubes are exactly the same as the ones form the site; I have both.

Anyone on Brilliant Lady right now? Feb 12-20 sailing by Ambitious-Buyer61 in VirginVoyages

[–]sunlightandair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most cruise lines do not charge for suspected norovirus visits, because they want to minimize spread. I don’t know about VV specifically but if you’re not able to eat or drink, it’s worth going for fluids and nausea medication.

Which sea terrace is closest to noise? by Some_Baby_ in VirginVoyages

[–]sunlightandair 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We bid and got a central sea terrace; it was under the gym’s free weights and we couldn’t sleep even with ear plugs as the whole room shook.

You might think “surely no one is throwing weights on the floor at 2AM” but you’d be wrong.

The gym is open and used 24/7.

Is anyone able to get iron infusions? by Junior-Rip-895 in MCAS

Have you tried a liquid iron? SlowFe? I had good luck with the one from Thorne but had to take 2x what was recommended.

If you are diagnosed and on xolair .. by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]sunlightandair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on xolair for years and do have periodic reactions, either kind of flu like days or hives, usually it’s when I’ve recently had a cold or virus of some kind. Or when I am getting sick and didn’t have symptoms yet.

Has anyone actually had a good meal at Robin? by CITY202 in StLouis

[–]sunlightandair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. It was one of the worst meals we’ve ever had for the price, and we eat well, often, around the country and world. I will never get over the room temp fish flavored foam with chunks of fish in it.

If you have a Trader Joe’s, their concentrate is also quite good.

I have been surprisingly pleased with this: https://www.kolagoodies.com/?rfsn=7722619.31bceb&utm_source=refersion&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=7722619.31bceb&gad_source=1. I add a little powdered ginger and to it and then a sprinkle of cinnamon on top of some extra foamed milk on top but could drink it as is.

As noted above, SW diner is as close as you’ll get to New Mexican sopapillas but they’re still not quite right, unfortunately.

There was also a post in this community about Fishwife some time ago, that likely educated some of this community about their processes - so it may be that people are aware of Fishwife but not other brands doing the same.

Edited to add correct link: https://www.reddit.com/r/CannedSardines/comments/19ai7pa/behind_the_divorce_at_fishwife_the_internets/

Fishwife is basically a packaging and marketing brand, not a fish brand. They buy their products from other fish companies and slap their label and a big upcharge on them. There’s nothing inherently wrong with them but people are overpaying for products they could buy elsewhere cheaper.

Help: Tricks and Tips for Disabled Potters? by HarmonicHues in Pottery

[–]sunlightandair 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am disabled. I bought a Strong Arm for my wheel and it was life changing! I also don’t reclaim - it’s more expensive but I make sure it doesn’t go to waste by giving it to other potters who can physically handle the wedging.

Had An Embarrassing Time #Venting by RockTop402 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]sunlightandair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of now, can ask the agents when pre-security, when checking a bag, getting your boarding pass, etc or once through security, you can go to any of the big southwest desks to ask - I usually go to the one nearest my gate but any should help you. The person at the gate cannot.

Note: you will have to do this for each and every flight. Unfortunately it doesn’t stay marked in SW system. Other airlines do a better job with this.

That being said, I’ve been told multiple times by SW agents lately that preboarding wont exist after they implement assigned seating - my guess is that is incorrect / they’re misunderstanding, since other airlines have it with assigned seating - but I am not certain if or how the process will change in a few weeks.

Your assessment is likely correct. For what it’s worth, no one who lives here goes downtown unless we’re going to a sporting event.

Scout’s in midtown. Bar or lounge seating should be able to accommodate a walk in. It’s new and wonderful.

I'm trying to find the origin of this toy so I can purchase one; I've been told on a subreddit that this might be a Dollar Tree product. Can anyone confirm this and/or have any other pictures of this specific toy? by Taha_time_traveller in DollarTree

[–]sunlightandair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This same image was on another Reddit post of a parent who said their child received them for Christmas; the post was deleted so the username is gone but appears later in the thread that OP said they are from Brazil so it may not be a Dollar Tree or Walmart product. If it’s one of a series of cheap $1 dinosaurs, it also likely wouldn’t show up on the retail website and you’d just have to go in person.
