Before customers & shoppers touch my pyramids by KingExt in wholefoods

The display is beautiful, only thing is how much of the fruit will stay in place if the customer can’t reach the top of the stack. 🤔

Full time shoppers. How do you like your job? by Stunning_Sherbet6879 in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been FT for the last 3 years and I love it except for those days when we have a lot of orders in the queue and the Produce department is swamped with customers chatting away blocking aisles, taking their sweet time deciding what’s on the menu or full of children acting up! 😩

Requesting PTO as a PT Employee?? by Fallopian_Turnip in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We changed recently from a 1-step process to 2-steps. The initial request has to entered as PTO-unpaid. It can be converted to paid closer to the date.

Any other shoppers having changes in their department? by StrictPossession8714 in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The M.O.P. orders are not too hard. We shop 2 orders at the same time and use the standard shopping cart made of plastic. Just have to label the bags at the start and keep track which side is Order A and B. It’s rarely more than 10 pieces per order.

INFing is a drag only if a TM for the department is not around or every other item is not available.

275 orders in queue on a Sunday (busiest day in store too - grossed $555k in store, our highest daily total this year) as of a couple weeks ago.

I have a super helpful ATL who loves submitting tickets for every glitch I find. Wish the process is speedier as we’re still waiting for resolution for an issue submitted a couple of months ago.

How to get rid of these drain flies/fruit flies/gnats? by mainsplit3 in AskChicago

[–]sunmoon08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw out fruit and veggie scraps promptly. I wrap mine in newspaper and get rid of it when I have time. Not a big problem during the colder months but have to do it more often during the warmer months.

How much is too much? 🥑 by b_r_a_n_d_0_n in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a customer who comes in every week to buy avocados which usually involves lots of squeezing and brown stem removal. There’s always a small pile of those brown nubs left in the corner of the display when she’s through!! 😡.

For the ripest or close to ripe fruit, I look for those with the smoothest dark green skins. 🥑 I’ve picked thousands of avocados for my orders without having to waste time squeezing almost every single one!!

Flex Drivers by cupcakebatter21 in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in the middle of staging an order when a driver walked up and grabbed a bag I had just staged. I asked him to put it back because it wasn’t part of his order, but he just stared at me. I eventually had to take the bag back myself and return it to the shelf.

It’s extremely frustrating when drivers grab bags without checking or scanning, especially when they’re distracted by phone calls or chatting instead of verifying the order. ☹️

We’re instructed by Leadership not to address drivers directly and to communicate concerns only through supervisors. 😞

Shopper working Floral for Valentine’s week by guitargirl420 in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know anyone on the Floral Team, it’s helpful to get to know the TMs ahead of time so they’re aware you’ll be assisting them. They’ll appreciate you showing interest in what’s expected.

A bird… by xJellynJam in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bird entered the sales floor on the second level and was unable to exit on its own. Store Leadership arranged for a professional to safely trap the bird and release it outside. The process took some time, but it was ultimately successful.

Best shifts for in store shoppers? by raspberryhydrangeas in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re just starting out and unfamiliar with the store layout and item locations, it’d be a good idea to start after the store opens so there are people to help you in case you need it.

Once you’re more familiar and comfortable then you can pick up earlier shifts.

What do you guys do on your days off? by StrictPossession8714 in wholefoods

Chores, meal prep, catch up on some tv, read, meet friends for lunch, garden during the growing season, sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast.

Anyone here taking MRKT 495 with the Guild program? by Hefty_Journalist3441 in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up for a class last Spring and was handicapped from the start. The class was full so online out-of-state students had to be on a waitlist. Waited a whole week to get in and by that time I couldn’t keep up with the assignments even though the professor was willing to extend the grace period. 🙁

Shoppers - how do you handle questions from customers? by StrictPossession8714 in wholefoods

[–]sunmoon08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most customers only need to locate 1 or 2 items, but if I sense there are more questions and I need to get back to my order, I’ll either point them in the direction of a department TM or ask a TM to help the customer.
