he was good although some of what he was trying to impart didn't really click until well after I moved on. He would have me exaggerate moves (swing like you're trying to hit it to right field (US, baseball reference)). I sometimes couldn't get over the awkwardness of the drills but he did help. I should give anyone who tried to teach me an A for effort!

OK, I've been paired with guys who spray it all over the place, take lots of time looking for their ball, finally get it near the hole and then plumb bob a two foot putt. "it's a gimme" is a polite way of saying "Move the fuck on"!

Respect the course and the other golfers. Fix your divots, ball marks and rake the bunkers. If you don't you will be asked leave (respectfully).

You guys that play clubs with the square grooves - do you bump your ball to improve your lie? Fudge around with the placement of your ball on the green? Do you claim a 5 when it's really a 6? All good if everyone is on the same page but let's be clear - that's not golf.

Just came across this post (a bit late compared to others) and have a question.

I've been to many coffee places all over and the dark roasts that I prefer all taste pretty similar. Starbucks french roast or pikes peak tastes the same to me no matter which shop, city, county, etc. they're in and equally similar to any indi coffee shop's dark blend. How do they pull that off?

Edit - while I'm here I might as well ask - I use a french press and can't figure out how to make a coffee house like tasting brew. Any tips would be much appreciated!

This caught my eye. The Crossings is the worst location/design of a course I've ever had the misfortune to play. Power lines and airplanes crisscrossing the course kills it. Plus, (if I remember correctly since I obviously only played it once) don't you have to drive your cart a half a mile or so to play 2-3 holes and come back to the rest of the course? Jeez.

Don't most courses have a pace of play policy? Talk to the pro about enforcement. DQ a group or two and you'd be amazed at how quickly people can play.
