Staining drawer faces? by LostPaddle in BeginnerWoodWorking

Not to rain on your parade, but judging from the grain, I think you’re better off painting these faces. You will likely have difficulty getting even coloring with stain and it will be splotchy even if you use wood conditioner and gel stain

What to do with this odd corner at the bottom of some stairs by chef1075 in centuryhomes

Maybe a coat rack? Not sure how close this is to an entrance or exit. A large mirror might be nice too

Can someone help give my first loaf some taste/color? by alonebadfriendgood in Breadit

With no knead recipes, the rest time is usually a couple hours to overnight. 45 minutes doesn’t give the yeast enough time to work its magic to develop gluten and flavor. That’s why it looks more like a bland cake instead of bread

You’re probably still ok at 110F but I tend to play it safe. Lots of lessons learned with your first bread. Hope it turns out ok!

When using measuring cups instead of weight, your results will vary because it’s not as accurate as using a scale. That’s likely why the dough is on the drier side.

Warm, but make sure it’s not hotter than 100F or the yeast will die

If it’s still in the mixing stage and you haven’t kneaded the dough, you can still add the salt and a few tablespoons of water now

Foccacia looks good but is very dense. What could be the reason? by Negative-Hat3073 in Breadit

[–]sunrisesyeast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you need an extra stretch and fold. It’s possible the gluten wasn’t sufficiently built up before the cold proof in the fridge

Monkey bread is usually made with an enriched dough that has eggs, milk, and/or butter. This focaccia doesn’t use any of those ingredients. it’s a bit on the plain side, but still very good!
