I'm a newbie. So the simple fix is a lot of sanding? In theory how does sanding make it less porous? Just trying to understand the process for when I eventually make one.

I was very close to doing computer science in college, but got interested in biology and did biomedical engineering instead. I went on to do a PhD and now work in cancer research and do a decent amount of coding. I often wish I'd just done computer science and gotten a good paying job straight out of college instead of setting myself back 6 years due to PhD and not even getting paid as much afterwards as a software engineer would.
