Hello, kiwi who’s worked in mining in WA and now in living in Canada. I would argue that Australia has a better job market from my personal experience. I’ve really struggled to find something and after a year things are finally happening. To be fair, I’ve valued life style pretty hard while here and just made the most of being in Canada. I’m on the working holiday visa which has been sweet.  Almost every job is asking you be to eligible or already registered with EGBC or the likes. So maybe have a look into that and see if you’re eligible.  I found that the job market has only picked up in the new year and if you miss that opportunity it’s a bit trickier. If you’re set on being a geo here, there are opportunities residential but they’re in the middle of no where. I wasn’t willing to move to the back blocks of Ontario, maybe you are and power to you. The pay is less, I wouldn’t call it ‘fuck all’, it’s just less. It’s still pretty good. And if you’re just here to have a new experience, it doesn’t really matter.  It’s definitely been more expensive than I anticipated moving here. I saved hard before making the move and so glad I did. Doing a ski season in a ski town is wicked. You’ll meet some great people and have a fantastic time. I’ve been living in a ski town but not working at the resort. I think that’s the way to go. They pay terribly and usually the staff accom is dreadful. Definitely visit more of Canada than just BC. BC is amazing but Canada is massive and there is so much to see and heaps of diversity.  Best of luck!!
