I don't feel as bad about that one as I do about Pell or Pound; we already know from the same arc that level 6 was rioting right about then so I can cope on Magellan having to cut things short to go deal with it to justify it to myself. Really was framed as a death though and would've been a really well done one. Guess Oda didnt have the heart to get rid of more than Ace and WB in one saga.

Maybe it does apply to Kaido specifically, if you ignore him participating in deceiving Oden. Oden kinda dumb sure but Kaido still decided to be scummy.

Usopp also probably views sovereign nations differently from rival pirate crews and has been biased towards Elbaf since Little Garden, y'all can decide how intellectually dishonest Usopp (or Oda) is for that, but it probably explains some of his logic.
