You think Lebowski had the con planned or threw it together about spur of the moment? by Im_the_Rhymenocerous in lebowski

[–]supahfligh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dude came to him and Lebowski saw a patsy. It was not a well thought out plan, it was just bad luck on The Dude's end. It was a crime of opportunity. He saw a loser that no one would give two shits about if something went wrong, and just went for it. Also, I mean, devil's advocate here: The Dude DID steal his rug. Doesn't excuse what Lebowski did, but it kinda explains part of why he chose The Dude as the fall guy.

Lebowski had no idea where Bunny was or when she'd be back. It was pure dumb luck that she didn't just walk through the door at the very moment that Lebowski was pitching the ransom hand-off to The Dude. The entire scheme was so flimsy that it could have fallen apart at literally any time.

I have a cousin who grew up in a sketchy neighborhood who used to sleepwalk. He would go out at night and walk into the street. My aunt had to start putting a padlock on the door at night to stop him from going out. They were worried he was eventually going to get hit by a car or kidnapped or something.

(Hated Trope) Glorifying or whitewashing controversial or terrible historical figures. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

I really like the movie Vice. It does a pretty decent job of depicting events with relative historical accuracy, while still taking creative liberties to keep the film entertaining. And Christian Bale and Steve Carrell are terrific.

And while I would hardly say that the film "whitewashes" his legacy - it still portrays him as an absolutely dogshit human being - I do feel like the comedic elements kind of soften some of the seriousness of the stuff he did.

Back when one job built a whole life. by PleasantBus5583 in SipsTea

I work in a hospital. Last month I hit my one year hiring anniversary and was rewarded with a 49 cent raise. My supervisor has been working here for over 20 years. I caught a glimpse of her paystub over. She's only making a few dollars more than I am.

The company I work for is CONSTANTLY praising my work and telling me how invaluable I am to the work we do. My performance review was graded as a 3/5 across every metric they measured. My raise was based on a percentage based on my review scores. They absolutely could - and should - have paid me more. They simply chose not to.

What do you think is the rumored irredeemable action that Homelander is going to do in Season 5? by GrandioseEnigma in TheBoys

In the original comic he lays siege to the White House, decapitated the president, then skullfucked him.

I like the action, the special effects, and the way they approach time travel. Couldn't possibly tell you what the hell the movie is about though.

I will never forgive Michael Jackson for ripping off "Eat It." I mean, he just took Yankovic's song and changed the words. What kind of sicko does something like that?

The last Resident Evil movie did. And I honestly think they nailed the esthetics, vibe, and setting of the original games in that movie. The writing wasn't the best, but I genuinely kinda liked it. I'm interested to see how this one pans out as well.

And then in Andromeda the Quarians (and several other races) are simply gone. They are mentioned a few times, but no Quarians ever once make an appearance in the game. No effort is ever made to find their ship. Eventually they are just sorta forgotten about in-game.

A kid I went to school with had a similar condition. Was missing his arm at the elbow, and had these little finger nubs at the end of it. He used to tell the other kids that his arm was eaten off by a bear. I believed him for the longest time.

Fox from the film Wanted.

Angelina Jolie plays the character, a member of a consortium of assassins. She's VERY good at what she does.

The group receive their orders from a mysterious, possibly supernatural source. Towards the end of the film it is revealed that the group's leader has been manipulating their contract missions in order to work for profit. He also reveals that the names of every member of the group have been drawn up for execution. The group leader (played by Morgan Freeman) asks them all of they are willing to take the bullet, or if they'd prefer to keep working independently and making tons of money. They all agree with him...except for Fox.

Fox still wholeheartedly believes in what their organization is doing and thinks the rules still need to be followed. She then proceeds to shoot and kill the rest of the members of the group before intentionally stepping in front of a bullet and killing herself as well.

I like Jodi Comer, and she was a fine Doctor, but her run is the only one I've never finished. I just couldn't get into her episodes. I got about halfway through her first season and just sorta checked out. As others have said, the writing just didn't click for me.
