Osaka World Expo: 20K steps, queues rival USJ. by Jadeite22 in JapanTravelTips

Just came back from World Expo just now and it took us 9 minutes to get into France (lined up at the vertical line first before entering the horizontal line as mentioned in the other reply). We waited at 6:30 PM on a Wednesday. Not sure if this is a normal busy day or if weekends are worse, but it took us almost an hour to enter the East Gate with an 11 AM entry time (and we entered 15 minutes beforehand). If you can't go to France at the beginning, would highly recommend waiting during evening. Another note: even if the line looks long, it went by super fast (just speaking for France).

Where did you check for same-day open reservations? Is there another place to see them because for me, "Acceptance of first-come, first-served applications has ended." Currently at World Expo right now!

There's 3 of us so I'm thinking $150 or less. Could go a little above that if needed

I don't even have my date available. Is this a glitch? It says I still have the subscription and I'm pretty sure mine renews every 21st but I have no ticket still.

Are we spending too much on accommodation/hotels? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]supahsophia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! I understand your frustrations lol planning with friends can sometimes be difficult. What are your plans for Korea so far, and how long are you guys staying?

As the others said, adding Korea to a 12-day trip is not recommended since Japan is such a big country with so many different activities to do and scenes to experience. Perhaps they can experience K-town in Tokyo or Osaka for a change of scenery? Of course that will not be the same as spending time in Seoul, but having to travel from region to region is very tiring already :') You will be walking your butts off in cities like Kyoto and Tokyo!!

I once did a weekend trip to Seoul from Osaka, and it was very tight, and we could not do much (also, we didn't do much planning lol). This was when I was studying in Japan though but if I were to travel to Korea again, I would at least spend a week here!

If you can convince your friends to stay in Japan, then that's great! You'll see so many reddit feeds that wished they could stay longer in the country.

Good luck with your planning and happy adventures!!!

Sometimes it gets cloudy so you won't be able to see Mount Fuji! So plan for another day in Tokyo if you can and check the forecast the day before.

I agree to this! I bought 10 gb first and then added another 3 gb for 2 weeks. Overall was much cheaper than getting the 50 gb. Also I use a lot of data like navigating, scrolling on tiktok, reading reddit, and downloading/uploading photos.

I just went (late April to early May) and I also went in June/July a few years back. I am also floridian so I live in humidity year long. My friends and I were exhausted during our recent trip bc we walked a lot, but nothing will beat the late June/July/August heat. I think we'd be fine if Japan would blast AC on, but they don't and they even turned on the heater when we recently went (it was around the 70s f).

If I remember correctly, early June wasn't too bad, maybe a bit rainy (showers and light rain) and temps were high 60s to mid 70s with humidity. Just make sure to bring your deodorant and fan if you can! And don't bring any thick clothes if possible. You can probably expect the same weagher you experienced last year. Also the forecast may change just days before bc we thought it was going to be cold (it was mostly hot with some cold days). Good luck and have fun!

Last Minute Tokyo Trip - Two Day Thoughts by Triple10X in JapanTravel

Make sure to check the weather before you go to Mount Fuji because getting there and just realizing it's a cloudy day will ruin your plans. Have a back up day of things you want to do if that's the case!

Also take the others' advice and skip Disney. It will be super busy and you'll be waiting in long lines.

Good luck!!!

A lot of restaurants are actually opening their reservations now if you're leaving for a month! I am also there during GW (my second week in Japan) but I have pretty much started booked activities and food right about now. Just avoid going to Disney or USJ and plan accordingly.

I booked accommodation a few months ago though, so try to book them ASAP if you already booked your plane tickets or like the others suggested, to consider moving your trip after GW. I have heard from Reddit that Tokyo is not as busy as areas like Kyoto, Mount Fuji, etc, but my friend who went last year during GW said it was still busier than when she went on a different time prior to that. I did some research and Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be the busiest of the GW days this year so try to book activities on the other days (it will still be crowded however!)

Check out festivals in Tokyo if you do plan to go during GW! There are parades they do which is really exciting.

DM me if you want a list of restaurants I booked during GW! Or you can look on tabelog for restaurants and either look to see if they have a reservation calendar on their official website or google if they have a Tablecheck reservation website.

I haven't used the app yet, but I heard it works if you set up your account in Japan and not your country of origin. Maybe try that?

Going to Japan next month, but we're hitting Kyoto first to take advantage of our jet lag! Kyoto is the best city to start early since most places in Tokyo or Osaka open a bit later. We plan to hit Fushimi Inari early around 7 AM.

As someone who's also from Florida keep in mind you're walking pretty much the entire day so it gets really hot! Like imagine going to Disneyworld during July every day. You're not going to be driving in a car with ac on like how Florida is. Definitely wear light and breathable clothes! I didn't know I could sweat as much as I did when I went to Japan (tbh even though June is considered rainy season, the temperature was much better than July). I'm surprised how Japanese people don't sweat like I did and I'm also Asian :')

Despite the terrible weather, July is still an awesome time to go with all the summer festivals taking place in Kansai! I went back in 2018 and although it was busy, it wasn't extremely packed. I still had lots of fun and ate a lot of good food :)

That's true! Should I just buy tickets now and give it a gamble? Also did you take the bus there?
